How long do you think you have to keep your receipts? Usually I keep it for about 5 years and then I destroy it and throw it out. Do you think I need to keep it that long? Do you have any better way to keep receipt?

Before I used to keep my receipt I think the the longest was 2 years but my boyfriend threw them away because it's all inside my wallet. I do this before because I want to know the total expenses that I spend for a year.

I keep my receipts at least until the warranty's run out. As far as income tax type receipts they say to keep them 4 years, then they will no longer be needed. I keep clothing and small item tickets for about a month.

Depends on what it is for. If it is a large ticket item I would definitely keep the receipt. If it is for something expensive or that you didn't have time to try on or are still not sure about it then keep the receipt awhile. I keep my grocery receipt just because I like to check prices on things and see how much they change from one time to the next, but, that is just me. Always a good idea to keep records and a receipt is just that.
