I said the word "Diet" and now I am forever hungry!

Healthy eating or diet food - Why is it that soon as diet is mentioned then I am starving all the time, it is such a pain!

Because I poisoned myself earlier this week with too much chocolate, I decided to go on a bit of a health kick for a while just to clean my system out and drop a couple of pounds. I was trying to tell myself that I am just going to eat more healthily for a while cut out the choccy and crisps(potato chips) and eat apples and cereal instead. I told myself that it would be a little bit of a diet. Since I said all this to myself I have been constantly hungry! It is driving me mad, and I just told my hubby that I was always hungry and so he instantly thought that it was an excuse to order in a takeaway! Anyone else find that as soon as they try to go on a diet they seem to get more hungrier than they would if they did not? Also what are some really healthy snacks that I can buy that are not too expensive but will fill me up and are nice?

I see...biscuits will also not work for you? maybe you need to explore whatever will satisfy you aside of the food that is not good for you! Cheers!

I have never been on a diet in my life. But ever sinmce I've tried to control my eating and exercise regime I'm eating more than I ever have. Sometimes it seems constant. I thought I could eat s,aller portions more times a day but I actually have to eat less, much less. I'm eating way more than I need for my body to function properly. It's like putting fuel in a car for it to work. Continuing to fill it when it's full is stoopid. You need to drive the car to use up the fuel. I just haven't figured out how to find the button to push to make me eat less. Any clues?

It is really hard to find the right balance to eating the right amounts. I find that diet food does not fill me up whatsoever. If I buy those ready made diet meals they are useless and I am hungry again within an hour. If I have salad, no good at all. I do find that chicken is filling, and there are millions of low fat marinades that can be made to make it tasty. Then you just have to find something filling to go with it. Same with the low fat cereal, no good. I recently discovered that porridge is good and fills me up for hours, I make it with the lowest fat milk I can get and I put different toppings with it to sweeten it up, like banana, spoonful yoghurt and a drizzle of syrup or honey. Nice not too fattening and filling. When I am peckish in the day I eat a handful of lowfat cereal, I go for any with honey or a flavour as they are really tasty to munch on, or handfulls of dried fruits, but they can be dear. Apples are good they have no fat no calories in and you can eat as many as you want. I have real problems with eating, I cannot eat a lot of food at all, I only eat a bowl of porridge, in the day. For my evening meal I have chicken an apple and some crisps I know with this see that I will not get belly ache. But I tend to experiment with different low fat foods and see which fills me up the longest and then work from that.

Hi THere, I know exactly how you feel! That is why I never say that I am on a diet anymore. Whenever I am asked it is always the same...a new lifestyle answer. I have basically taken that to hear with more exercise and less eating. I have found that cereal takes the hunger edge off and does not put on the pounds. I always eat raisn bran. cheers,

I don't diet for this reason because as soon as I tell myself I will I like you get cravings for all the wrong things and also feel hungrier. I tend to snack on bowls of cereal or fruit and find drinking a drink before my meal helps fill me up quicker. I was naughty today and ordered a takeaway as I didn't want to miss the F1 qualifying by being in the kitchen cooking. I find a banana is a good healthy snack that is filling and gives energy too they are great for all sorts but I buy cereal bars a lot. I am one of the lucky ones though as I don't have a sweet tooth. I know how you feel! I just said yesterday that I needed to watch what I eat a little more because I really need to lose a few pounds. Today, I went and spent almost $300 on groceries. Never go to the grocery store hungry!!! Actually, I started buying that new Special K Protein Water and I really don't feel as hungry if I drink a bottle of it. I also picked up some granola bars instead of the chocolate I usually buy. Hopefully that helps! Good luck, and don't think DIET!

then you got me, dear friend i also confuse with this kind matter but i also have the same experience just like you when i going to diet. it seems that i am being more hungry than before and wanna eat any food that i found. the only thing that i should do is to remain my purpose to get those diet and dicipline my self. if the hungry feeling still not able to overcome then i will eat one apple and drink some of water. water with some drops of mineral concentrate able to make pressure your hungry feeling

Well of course if you changed the way you eat then you would indeed suffer hunger more often as your body is not adjusted to your new lifestyle. I just hope that you will continue with that so that you would indeed have a healthier lifestyle for your benefit.

The onlt thing that I can stick to is a taco salad or something like that. Actual diet foods do not fill me up and they do not satisfy my craving for food. They do not fill me up either and I find myself snacking around on all kinds of foods while waiting for the next meal time. the best thing is to exercise if you have the time or the energy for it. I never have the time and I have an exercise machine and an exercise bike.

Awww gemini honey you poor thing! I always think that when you try to deny yourself anything you crave it much, much more. One thing I would suggest is drinking a lot of water - that tends to make you feel less hungry, porridge is another great filler without too many calories - you can add things like cinammon, apple or raisins to give it more taste! I hope that you stop torturing yourself soon! lol Hugs xxx

This discussion is really making me hungry... hehe! My suggestion is, since i follow this diet too, eat on right time, meaning 3 meals a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Don't skip meals. And you should eat a well-balanced meal. Avoid too much snack in between, because it's the real reason for gaining unwanted weight.

Find food in a health food section or try someplace with fruits and veggies. Not eating may help, but it won't do any good to yourself.
