I'm feeling a bit confused on what to choose. Help?

I've been thinking of working abroad for a while now. Aside from the pay that I will be getting, another reason that I have is that I want to be in a new environment and I want to be on my own right now. So when I got this e-mail from my school saying that there's a hiring in Dubai, I immediately applied and after 2 days I got my first interview, it was on a Thursday. It was okay. The one who interviewed me was a batch mate of mine. Then I received this text message that I qualified for the second interview this coming Tuesday. After the interview that I've had last Thursday, I kind of had second thoughts if I'm going to continue with my going abroad plan. The third and final interview if I qualified would be on July, It would be a panel interview and the interviewers would be the ones from Dubai already. I'm kind of torn right now. I think I'm not ready to leave home and I'm considering applying in other companies (aside from call centers). I don't know. I've always wanted to work and pursue my career as a Hotel, Restaurant, Institution Management major in Hospitality Management abroad and now that there's an opportunity, I'm kind of having cold feet on it. I think if I go with my friend's plan on helping me get in in HSBC it'll help me for a while as he's earning above minimum wage. I really don't know. I'm so confused I don't even know what to type anymore. Any advice? Help? Anything?

Hi kun2349! I've realized it the other day. My chance is already here and I've passed the 1st interview already so why stop now? I already had my 2nd interview earlier today. Hope I receive a call for my third and final one. Thanks for all your advice!

That's so cool! In fact, I'm also in the same line as you do, I just graduated with a diploma. Good opportunities are hard to come by, I'd definitely grab it if I were you. But then again, if you are not ready, probably you could work a few years in your own country to gain more experience first. Don't worry, tourism industry is booming! Lol! You will get more opportunities next time if you maintain the right attitude! ;D

Wow really? Anyway, I don't think I am emotionally and mentally ready for working abroad. But I'd love to, maybe in some other year. I'm scared though that this might be the only opportunity I'll have.

I agree with you gwenns! There's no point in me forcing myself to work abroad if I'm still not ready for it. Thank you!

No worries mara, in this industry, I believe experience and passion counts! If you are not ready now, there's no point for you to force yourself to accept the offer as it will reflect on your working abilities, attitudes and your emotional level while you are there. When you think you are ready (already with experience), then start creating your own opportunities! Most importantly, know yourself and have fun! Who knows? Maybe next time we might be colleagues! HAHA

You can decide for that marababe, if you are not sure going abroad, it will not be good to force yourself otherwise you will be unhappy with your decision. Working abroad means a lot, you are ready for everything, since it will not be easy to be away from family and adjusting with different people with different races and cultures.Give yourself a day to think what you really want and evaluate your inner feelings.

Follow what your heart desires Mara. God will give you what you a chance to get what you deserve. Working abroad is a really big decision and leaving your family for it is what you need to sacrifice. You can talk to your family about it as well so you could get their views and such. Give your self some time out. You may go ahead with HSBC but, I'm not sure, you may not enjoy it as it may just be a "spacer" until you go abroad. Being hesitant about this is very normal since again, this is a very big decision, and a life altering one as well. Be with your friends and family. They will also encourage you definitely.

I'm not really in speaking terms with my mom right now and I haven't told my brother about my plan. So, I've myself to decide and think about this. I don't want to end up blaming any one or regretting whatever decision I'll be having. I hope I can decide soon though cos I really need to work.

hi dear...i was in the hospitality industry for abt 5 yrs before i got married...it is tough and challenging...i had a very good opportunity frm the middle east (Doha) but i was also very nervous abt leaving my family and more abt going to an unknown place security so many things popped up in my mind..i chucked it off however my friend did go ahead and she did pretty well...though now she is back in India..I just ponder if things wud have been different if i had gone..so if u have doubts then dont go..but if this is wt u always wanted then i think there is no harm trying it out..good luck..

Hi, I just want to tell you take it easy! We always know nothing, but we always make our decision every day. Which is right? Which is wrong? It's not so important. Be happy! Every one want to experience new things, but every one afraid new things. Is the new thing worth to experience? It's really not a question, just tell yourself you want to try or you don't! Know that, you are the decision maker, you have the right--that's enough!

Find yourself first then make right decision. If you don't know yourself, decision making is really not important at all.

I think you better talk to your near or dear ones . but I would suggest if u r really planning of going abroad then you collect every sort of information of that very company including salary i mean everything then you decide what to do right....hope for the best

It's really tough to make a decisions right? But life is like that, you are going to make a lot of choices in life and whatever you choice go for it. You are young, talented and ambitious. It's easier for you to make a decision because your responsibility is to your self right now. Once there is a string attach, your choices will be different and harder. Take the chance now and have faith. Once you made the decision there is no going back and you should standby your decisions. Whatever you decision you make, go or not you'll be ok. I also don't know what I want, I am an engineer and after two years working on a multinational company I tried looking for work abroad and got interviewed for a job for Saudi Arabia. I went through all the interviews, seminars, medical and just wait for my visa. While waiting for my saudi visa, another opportunity came from my company and I was offered a training in the USA for six months. So what do you do? go to saudi or usa. I choose to go to USA and comeback and definitely stayed here in our country. It seems everytime I tried working abroad something always come up. I been to USA several times and even though I did not work there permanently the experience last.

it completely depends on you. i think if it's just about "having cold feet", that's normal. i believe almost everybody will experience that if she face the situation you're facing. for me...i always eager to work abroad. it's really great. i will take the first opportunity to work abroad. but everybody have different situations. you know the best for yourself. i believe you will make the right decision. good luck

I know these decisions can be the hardest decisions to make in life. IF you are not married and don't have any children, you should really try to persue your dreams. Take it from me it is a lot harder to do so once you are attached and committed to others. Do what will make you happiest, don't let fear hold you back. If there is something more than fear of the unknown, then think further, but if fear is the only thing holding you back then you need to ask yourself if you want fear to rule your life.

first, you can write down all the reasons why you want to work abroad second, write down all the reasons why you want to work aside from call centers then compare with the 2 sides, and which is more important to you, then you will have your choice
