Ok the temperature has been really hot lately and its unbareable for me never mind my little guys. I have a set of 6 month old twins. I keep them on a schedule for tere feedings but i mix it up a little bit, i gave them just a bottle of water during one in between formula feedings and today i have given them baby apple juice watered down. I still give them there formula at there scheduled times but i try to give them less due to the heat is so bad and the formula mixed with the eat is just cauding them to vomit it right back up. are they too young for water and apple juice??? i have heard from a few people that they were too young and i got hell for it. But i dont think that i am doing anthing wrong... am i?? are they t00 young??

Water you should and can give to a baby almost right after they are born. About 1 oz between feedings. Baby juice not until about 4-6 months of age. Our body consists of mostly water so it makes sense that water is okay. Plus it helps in avoiding over feeding your baby and that way there are less problems with colic and regurgitation. Hope this helps.

Well I am pretty sure that it is more than ok to give your baby water ... and if you are giving apple juice just make sure that it is diluted with water. I imagine that it is more than ok since you start giving solids to a baby at 6 months.

thats what i figured too. seeing how formula is made with water and the babies are eating baby food now, i thought if they could have applesauce from gerber why not apple juice with gerber. and i most definalty dilute it.

Sure you can give your babies water. I'm surprised that your Dr hasn't already had you doing this. When i worked in the nursery at the hospital we would give the babies water between feedings if the were fussy and seemed to want something to just suck on. I was told that my own babies needed water just as much as I did.

I think 6 months old is old enough to give them plenty of water and even juice to drink, as those babies would be as hot as you are!

They are never to young for water. you can give water to a new baby right away. juice on the other hand i think it's about 3 or 4 months. please make sure you give the baby water. it is so important to get them use to water at a young age.

Babies can have water at any age. You wouldn't want to give water instead of feeding of course, but if the weather is awful a couple of ounces of water will help keep them well hydrated. Juice is debatable. Juice, even baby juice, has a ton of sugar in it- natural sugars, but sugar none-the-less. There isn't much nutritional value in a bottle of juice, so I would opt for giving actual fruit instead- which still has some water content & will add to their overall hydration too.

I have 3 kids. When I first gave birth, I gave water alternately from the milk formula. You can give water to a baby at any age. As for the juices. When the baby is 3 mos. old. you can give them once a day. Preferably in the morning. But be sure to give only fresh juice. One advice, if you give them milk or juice be sure to let them burp so that the fluids will easily go down. You're doing the right thing, don't worry.

I am a father of six children. My youngest is 1 year old. I remember giving them water and fruit juices at 6 months. I think at that age, it is ok to give them those fluids, aside from the milk formula they regularly feeds...

Water is the Elixir Of Life and as such there is no age till when you should not feed your baby water. When a baby can have Milk which itself has water content I don't see any reason why it cant be fed water. In fact water is utmost important and you should make sure that adequate water is fed to your baby.

babies are never too young for water, just keep giving them water whenever they'll have it. they should be old enough for little cups to have it in now [some are 6 months plus]. watered down juice should be fine but may give them runny poo if they're not used to it!

I am a granny but i always to to give my babys water. As long as its boiled and cool thats fine, wouldn't rush to give them diluted baby juice as its sweet. milk does make a baby thirsty at normal times

No hey are not too young. Are you giving them baby apple juice, do they like it, are they tolerating it. If the answers are yes, then they for sure are not to young.

Definitely not. My sister was giving her baby water at like 3/4 months. Not a lot but just to rehydrate him a little without having to give him milk all the time. It can upset the stomach. She would put a little bit of sugar in the water as well to give it some flavour, or a little bit of baby juice. You're not doing anything wrong, that's for sure. So I'd ignore what you're being told. :)

I don't recall when I gave my child different types of drinks. I only have one child and she is 16 years old now. I think you will be okay by giving them different kinds of drinks. It is better than letting them dehydrate. You will soon know if it does not settle right on their tummy. Sometimes we have no choice on what to give them to drink. I think it is totally up to you on what you want to try with them and when you want to try it.

Certainly not too young! They need water, especially in hot weather. I always boiled water then kept it in the refrigerator to give to my babies. I didn't give it to them chilled, though. Tepid in the summer, warm in winter. Our water didn't taste very good, even boiled, so I added a bit of juice to flavor it. And when they were constipated I put white Karo syrup in it. And when they start learning to drink from a cup, starting with water saves a lot of laundry!

You can actually give much younger babies water - my midwife said that babies can wake in the middle of the night & often it's because they're thirsty & not hungry - although formula does have plenty of water in it so! At 6 months though, they should be eatig solids so water or other watered dow liquids aren't bad for them! You twins will be fine with water & if you wish to give them juice, you should make sure it has no added sugar & only make it up like cordial - 1/4 - 1/3 juice with the rest being water - then it wont be too strong & cant upset their little tummies. Ignore what other people have said to you, but if it comes down to it - call one of those parenting advise lines (they're usually a free call), they can help you out with everything & if they say that water or watered down juice is fine, then you know you've done the right thing coz those parenting lines include nurses & midwives to answer your questions. You wont get any bad advise from them either coz they're fully qualified professionals!

babies even those who are only a weeks old can drink water, just be sure that the water is sterilized. my son experienced constipation when i have mixed feed him. water with a bit of karo syrup or corn syrup would help. and yes, juices are also good for them too especially with the hot weather, i think they deserve something to cool them down too.
