Has a movie ever been made in your city/town?

Two weeks ago Bruce Willis shot parts of his new movie in my little town of Lynn, MA! Streets were blocked off and there were dressing room trailers and cameras everywhere. Of course you could barely get a glimpse or get near him but there was so much excitement going on that it was wild! Years ago my daughter lived in Hollywood and it was an everyday thing to see a movie being shot on almost every street but this is a big thing around here. I live close to Boston and that used to be a big place for shooting movies but for some reason it's been quite awhile since that's been done. Has a movie or parts of one ever been shot in your town? Did you get to see what was going on and all the excitement?

When I lived I Waukegan, Illinois a part of "Groundhog Day" was made in the town. If you saw the movie, the part on the highway that Bill Murray was stuck in a traffic jam was meade on what we called the highway to nowhere. They started to build it but just stopped. It really is just a stretch of road that doesn't go anywhere. Weird, right? There are several movies that were made in Chicago, the most recent being the newest Batman movie. My cousin-in-law was an extra in a few made here. Home Alone, Hoffa, Curly Sue. He met Jack Nicholson and Danny Devito during Hoffa. He said they ate lunch with the extras and were very cool guys. PEACE

I did see all of those movies and there are a lot of movies filmed in all parts of Chicago. I heard that Bruce Willis also had lunch with some of the extras here.

I live in Troy NY and there have been 3 movies filmed here. The first one was "Ironweed", with Jack Nicholson & Meryl Streep. I lived around the corner from where parts of the movie was being made. I watched the sceen where Jack is in a wagon in Washington Park, and there was a scene in our local library as well. Other scenes if I remember were filmed In Albany. "Age of Innocence" was also filmed in Troy, a lot of the scenes were filmed in the Paine mansion on 2nd st. ""Scent of a Woman" was also filmed in Troy, parts of this movie were filmed at Emma Willard School for girls. I think there might be another one, but I can't think of the name at the moment.

Last year they made The Kingdom with Jennifer Garner and Jamie Foxx. They built the whole middle east city on the lot where our ASU campus is. We got to see shooting and bombing and lots of action. Then they just tore it down. When I lived in LA my husband had perks and we got to eat with stars and go to their houses. We lived by famous people in the LA valley and then in Switzerland. The really great stars are so humble and normal and the kinda stars act like they are so much more important than they are. I have lots of photos and souvenirs from my time there. I also worked at UCLA Medical Ctr and got to see lots of stars.

Yes not too long ago Nicolas Cage went on shooting here in Melbourne for the movie titled "Knowing". Unfortunately I don't get to see him in action. Parts of Melbourne city were used to portray as the downtown of Detroit/Boston (not sure which one which). Before this movie, Nicolas Cage went to Melbourne once before to shoot "Ghost Rider" in a Melbourne cemetery. Earlier this year that part of Melbourne city has been used to shoot Steven Spielberg's WW2-themed film that will go internationally.

Well, I know of several that have been filmed in my state, though I am not sure about my area (with the exception of independent films done by local actors/directors). I live in North Carolina, and I know in the movie Richie Rich (with Macaulay Culkin) the Rich mansion was actually the Biltmore House in Asheville, which is about a four-hour drive from where I live. Also, Wilmington, which is about two-and-a-half hours or so east of me is said to be the third-largest city in the movie making industry behind Hollywood and New York City (the obvious 1st and 2nd, respectively). I know the show Dawson's Creek was filmed there, though I couldn't tell you much else as I don't like TV much and don't watch very many movies. Several of my college classmates got cameos in an episode of Dawson's Creek. I don't know if anyone's ever heard of the TV movie, "Never Give Up: The Jimmy V Story" but that was filmed in my area (as I live outside of Raleigh where NC State is located) and several of my middle school classmates got small parts in it. One of Jimmy V's daughters was a student teacher at my school that year, and we got to see the movie after it was filmed. It wasn't a huge blockbuster though, so I am not sure it really counts - it was really more like a low-budget memoir type thing. I was never present during any of the filmings, however, I know that Wilmington does have a "North Carolina Hollywood" tour for visitors where they take you to some of the sudios and filming locations and sometimes you might catch a glimpse of the actors or some project they're working on if you're lucky. I never did that tour though, but it sounds interesting.

When I was in high school the movie Foot Loose was shot in my town, at my high school. It was really fun. My friends and I got to be extras in the movie, and talk with Kevin Bacon, Lori Singer, and Sara Jessica Parker. I still love watching the movie and reminiscing about the way my town has changed, and seeing so many of us from school. The next year Kathleen Quinlan, Yaphet Kotto, and Sam Waterston, shot a movie in my town. It was a Sci-fi, called Warning sign, and it sucked. lol Every once in a while I see it on some cable station, and I have to watch, just to see my friends and myself, because once again, we were lucky enough to be extras in it. Now almost 25 years later, they were here filming another movie a few months ago. It was a kids' movie, with Nickelodeon actors, I can't remember their names. My 13 year old was thrilled about it. Quite a lot of movie action in this small town, I would say.

The only Hollywood movie I can remember being shot in Macedonia, near where I used to live, though I can't remember the exact location, is The Peacemaker with George Clooney and Nicole Kidman. And unfortunately I didn't get to see anything as the scenes were shot in the middle of nowhere. The rest are European movies. My cousin played in one short independent movie. In Thessaloniki, where I live at the moment, as far as I know only one USA documentary has been made, the rest are Greek movies.

I live in Jacksonville, Florida and two movies, that I know of, have been shot here. G.I.Jane with Demi Moore was shot here but I was not living here at the time so I did not see anything that took place. A couple of years ago John Travolta came into town to shoot a movie and they block of multiple streets downtown during rush hour traffic. Needless to say, the citizens of Jacksonville were not big fans.

The little town that I went to high school in can be seen in the movie In the Line of Fire. My husband just told me that Woody Harrelson has been on our base filming something this past week too. They have parts of the base closed off for it. Our base is so big that you could get lost though, so they could shoot here and nobody would even know.

i live in Las Vegas...so yeah there's been quite a few things filmed here. i used to take the city bus down the strip to get to work, and it gets kind of annoying when the cops have part of the street shut down just so the film crews can "shoot" a car driving down the strip over and over which will probably end up in a movie for like 10 seconds.

I used to live near Hollywood and, yes, it is an everyday occurrence. So I have seen many movies and tv shows being shot there. It is interesting although sometimes disappointing when you watch how they do some of the stuff. A couple of them were shot in Colorado when I lived there too. And I understand they are shooting the new Hanna Montana film here in TN. But have not seen those sets. Have no interest in those kinds of films really. It's fun though to watch them work.

Not exactly in my town but few of the movies were made in Philadelphia... I live about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes from city depending on traffic... Funny you should mention Bruce Willis because one of his movie was the first thing I thought of when I saw your question... Remember "Sixth Sense"? I used to hang out at some of the places where movie shots were taken... There are few other movies that were at least in part made in Philadelphia but I can't remember the titles of them...
