Hi everyone!! I am going to ask for a little help today. My kids and I have been discussing some thing s they want to do this summer. One of those things is creating a time capsule. I think it would be really neat if all of my friends were able to contribute an idea, a story, anything to our time capsule. My home is 107 years old and we were really bummed we didn't find anything "old & cool" when we moved in. So this is going to be our way of leaving something for the generations to come. So I emplore you to get out your thinking caps, and help me to make this the best time capsule ever!! Thanks bunches!!!

That is a very cute idea. I Like it :) Not sure of what to put there. I think maybe at least a picture of your kid's favorite clothes so they can see that in many years they will probably be in fashion... or maybe the opposite so they can laugh at the silly clothes they liked :) A favorite movie, maybe, or video game they like to play. I think that what I would like to find in a time capsule was the things that I - or someone else - enjoyed many years before and compare them with what I enjoyed in the future.

hehehe it depends on how things develop, who knows.. maybe we will actually look very civilized in the future :) I would put basically the same things you're mentioning. Photos will show everything and take little space.

lol.. I saw a movie about the future once.. and it made me think twice.. humans were actually a lot dumber.. too much reliance on computers, etc..

I was thinking of putting in photographs of cars, clothes, etc.. to not take up too much space.. I want people to be able to see how we lived life.. we may look like cavemen compared to them...lol

Well, if you are putting a time capsule together, then you should look at things that are fairly new. Today's newspaper, an Ipod or a picture of an Ipod, a cell phone or a picture of a cell phone, dried flowers from your yard sealed in a zip-lock baggie, etc. You should include some seeds that the finder of your capsule can plant. Better make sure to include some directions. Hopefully your time capsule will be found and opened in about 100 years.

When my nieces came over my place last summer, we had a blast by blistering the damaged CDs and painting with oil various forms. I microwaved the CDs and the blisters came out on them. The kids had great fun and i got to witness their creativity like never before. Here is one link that might interest you: http://familycrafts.about.com/ H A P P H O L I D A Y S.

Wow What task Misheleen! I think one of the kids favorite books like Happy potter would be a wonderful addition. Along with an old photograph of a great grand parent. Make sure the name and date is on the back of the photo. Perhaps a symbol of what ever faith your family practices. How are you? it is so good to see a post from you Misheleen!

Maybe, items that are collectible like stuff animals, disney items, or action figures could be put together in a nice piece of furniture.
