Living Room? Bedroom? Bathroom? Where do you relax?

Everyone has a favourite nook or cranny in their house to relax and be comforted. Have you created a special place to hide in when you're dead tired, sad, or angry? What's on the walls? Pictures of your family and friends, or artsy prints? Do you soak in the bathtub surrounded by soft music and candles? Take us on a visual tour of your favourite detox hide-away. (Mine is boring. It's anywhere I can take my book.)

My bedroom is my next relaxation place after my runs.. lol =D I feel very relax while i'm running, and after which, i will just wanna take a cold shower and lie on my bed straight, because my bed is the most comfortable thing of all.. hehe.. However, i dun always get the chance to do that as i'm always out.. So whenever i got a chance to do that, i dun mind being on bed as early as possible.. LOL

It's good to tire yourself out with exercise. I wish my bed was comfortable. Every morning I wake up, another bone hurts from being pressed against a too hard matress. Oh, such problems. What colours are in your bedroom?

My computer room is my refuge. I have my favorite guitar here, a small amp, shelves of books and cds and tapes and a couple of my dragons. The others are scattered throughout the house. There are a couple of plants in here, too, and I can look out into my back yard. I would like to put a comfortable reading chair here, too, but I don't think there's room! It's only about 10x12 and my desk takes up some of the space. I really need to rearrange it!

I hope you got my message of aploogy for my absence. I feel horrible I missed all my discussions. What do your dragons look like? What kind of plants do you have? I always like to have some kind of ivy and a prayer plant. I killed all my plants by mistake, one by one and I haven't started buying new ones yet. I keep knocking them over_ Your room sounds like it's packed full of comfort. And you play guitar? I used to be able to play "Puff the Magic Dragon" Sorry.

dragon_ Thank you for sending the picture. Now I have a visual of part of your impressive collection. The cloisonne from the Great Wall is a dragon to be treasured, even if it was from an ex relationship. What a relief to leave all the ex problems behind you. I'm glad you're okay now. I forgot about spider plants. I usually have those, but you have to keep trimming off the babies to maintain the healthy main plant. I end up with baby spiders in pots all over the place. How unique and touching your actions are when you try to save the plants at Walmart. You are a very special person and important to our society. I imagine you know that, or I have told you before. Travel lightly.

Hi anawar! You start interesting discussions. My hideawya is my office. I made myself one out of my dining room. It is between the living room and the kitchen. It wouldn't be a comfort zone if it didn't have my computer in it. It also has a TV and book shelves. I have filing cabinets and cupboards, but I never get it all organized. I have pictures of my grandchildren on the walls, plus my award of merit for a song I wrote. I also have dishes and spoons displayed. If it sounds cluttered, it is. but, that's what makes it my space.

It doesn't sound cluttered at all. It sounds exactly the way you describe it, the perfect hideaway. What's this about an award of merit? Tell me more! Hopefully, my computer is safe from hackers and I can get back to this conversation before another five days pass.

Well, a few years ago I was one of 15 winners in a church music contest. I wrote a children's song. It was quite neat because they sang my song in an assembly at Temple Square in Salt Lake City. they also honored us with a dinner. It was my 15 minutes of fame!

Orange Juice - I'm having some juice to start the day.
I sit in my favorite chair. Its the place to have some orange juice, take a nap, read a book, watch television or just day dream about anything. Its located in the living room and there is a picture of Dolly Parton with the title of her new singles. She is a great singer.

Band - There I am performing.
My husband has his airplanes next to Dolly, so our living room has both of our choices. I'm in the living room more. Many years ago was in a college band.

Mine is in my favourite chair in my little longe ,my lounge is what you would call cosy ..it has lots of cushions and throws over the chairs because of our little dog, there are pictures on the walls ..and the childrens pictures look at us along with their childrens pictures...we consider ourselves very lucky to have the comfort that we have and make the very most of it.

Mine's boring too. Anywhere I can have peace & quiet. Somewhere I can take in everything this far in calm meditation, not sitting there OMing (lol) just calm retrospect. From there I can go on and further create the rest of my day.....

I have the same type of getaway. Wherever the television isn't on and I can get away from everyone. Sometimes it's the bedroom, sometimes it's out on the patio. I love my books and the book itself is my getaway I guess. I'd love my own little room to decorate and make mine, someday...

Hi There, It is true that we all have a place where we like to go and relax. It should be a place where we can go and be alone or invite other people to come along. Mine is downstairs in my basement. I have created a little "nook" in which I have my work area. I have a desk, computer, TV and a whole bunch of other things that I use on a regular basis. I would have to say that is where I feel the most relaxed. cheers,

golfproo_ basements can be so cool. (sorry, obvious play on words). I like the idea of setting up down there. You won't get much traffic, and no one will trip over your stuff. It sounds very relaxing. If you see this post, please accept my apology for a delayed response. Computer problems started right after I started these discussions. I was so mad and hurt and sad all at once.

yogeshdhusa_ I knew it~! I knew I would find someone who likes the bathroom the best. You must move very carefully to be able to dance in your bathroom! I'm pleased if I don't slip. Music takes you away from stress, so like me and my book, wherever you go with your music and dancing you find happiness. Too bad you don't have 500 after your name. Then you could attach a picture of your garden. Come back 75 posts from now and leave a picture for me. That would make me smile.

One of my daughters used an Egyptian theme for awhile in her bedroom. She was in college studying anthropology. Lilac and purple are both realxing colours. As I was growing up, my bedroom was decorated using those colours. The room was very inviting. What kind of candles do you burn? Did you get my message?

As a child I would hide away in a bathroom at my granny's house. Most of the time I was sad when I was there because of family being mean to me. When I got older, the bathroom still became my refuge. I wouldn't take baths, I would just sit inside the bathroom on the skin and hide away from them. To some extent the bathroom is still my sanctuary but I do not go into it as much as I now live with my fiance and his parents. The only time I will go in there is when I just need time to think.

SomeCowgirl_ that's a very touching and moving story. You sounded like such a sad little girl. I know I was, but I went into closets. The bathroom must have been the one place where you knew no one would bother you. And that room still works as your refuge today. It sounds like you're in a happier home living with your fiance and his parents.

I didn't even notice the misspell. It bothers me as well when I spot an error after I hit submit. Everyone does it. It sounds like the friends you left behind weren't really friends at all? My bathroom can't be set up for pampering just yet. I'll remember your thoughts when that opportunity comes into my life. Thanks for your friendship. Travel lightly.

Lol, I just realized I misspelled sink... one letter difference, and it makes another word. Yes I was sad when I was younger because of cousins, and when I moved out and in with friend's it was much the same. I am happier here, and sadly the friends that I had priorly lived with have proven to not be good friend's at all. The bathroom is a great refuge though, and I think that it's a must for any girl. Whether you pamper yourself or just take a breather, it's always the best place to be alone. Thanks for responding to me.

My place, though a poor woman's hut, can be a lazy person's haven.:-) Anytime I get tired of the four corners of my bedroom, I can easily go to the open sala and relax on the cushioned bamboo bench. If that doesn't feel appealing, then, I can simply sit on the grass by the pond which is only a few steps away from the bench. Otherwise, I can just lie down on my hammock under a mango tree. For me, nothing can beat relaxing while surrounded by nature. :-)

I agree. Nothing beats a walk in the woods or breathing fresh air. When I'm hiking, I can feel my body align with the natural forces that surround us. What's an open sala?

When i'm stressed out (like I am, a LOT), I either go to my PlayStation 2 and play "Black" in order to relieve my stress by shooting and killing terrorists, or I go to my computer and drown out my anger and stress listening to songs from Susumu Hirasawa like "Forces", "Sign", etc., Maximum the Hormone's "What's Up, People?!", and any other kinds of high-tension music, just like starting another fire to snuff out another one. Also, they're both in my room, but recently, my "paralyzed" laptop in there bas its power adaptor tip broken, and now I can't even use it at all. Now I only got my PlayStation 2, and the new computer in the living room, although my annoying, little pest of a sister hogs it up. But still, i'll do most of my relaxation when I get myself a new apartment. That's when i'll be most calm when i'm away from those who stress me out; namely her, and any of my family members still around. Alright! After this post, I can finally copy and paste!
@anawar (2404)

How's that copy/paste going? I lost my word program when I had my computer stripped down to the skeleton, trying to get rid of a hacker. Now, I'm trying to find a free word program. I thought violent games would excite the fire of anger, but it's the opposite for you. I wonder why? Enjoy your new apartment, away from your sister. Let us know when you move in, or start looking for one. Sorry for the delayed response. Hacker problems knocked me out for five days!

If I'm ready to relax I usually go to my bedroom or to my living room and take me a good book to read or take a nap, or both. In my bedroom we don't have a lot of pictures on the walls but we do have some sitting around. Now in my living room I have several family pictures and pictures of our two kids when they were little. I don't do a lot of relaxing because I'm either typing my medical reports, here on MyLot or on some other of my favorite websites, but when I do have time to relax I love to read a good book. ;)

I don't get much time to myself being a stay at home mom of three, but when I can get some time its a long relaxing bath. Sometimes I have candles. but most of the time I'm in the bathtub getting lost in a book. I don't get much time to read either so that is also where I go to read. I promise its not boring to get lost in a good book.

I prefer to relax in my bedroom because nobody will interrupt me. I will just have to stay almost whole day in my bedroom, writing and typing articles in my laptop, then sleep, hehe. Aside from bedroom, I love staying in the foyer of the house in the afternoon to exhale the soft breeze of the afternoon air. In the morning too when the weather is fine and nice, I love staying in the balcony of the house.
