Do you have a best Friend?

I know this is a pretty weird question, but I was thinking today that I really don't have a best friend anymore. I used to but have fallen out of touch with them. I am not sure if it is my fault, or if that is the way life typically goes. We gradually fall out of touch with people as we age. I have my girlfreind who I spend all my time with, but does that count as a best friend? What about you? Do you have a best friend? How long have you had that friend?

Yes dear golfproo. I have a friend who had studied with me and now I am a businssman and he is working for an industry. We meet once a week in the heart of the city and once in a while he brings him family home and vice verse. This friendship is purely based on trust and understanding.

As long as your discussions through phone are sincere to the core, itis the best friendship. There is no need to meet every day face to face and chit chat or shake hands. The real friends always wish wherever you are whatever you are!

Yes. I have one best friend and that is my husband. We met 16 years ago and we became friends. We then got married three years later. We have been together for 16 years and married for 13 in July. He is the only best friend that i have ever had. I can tell him anything and talk about anything with him and he never judges me.

I do not have a best friend. I used to a long time ago, but not anymore. I actually fell out of touch with all of my friends when I moved about a year and a half ago and I have never made the effort to go out and make new ones.

I did have some good friends and one best friend. I have not completely lost touch with her and if i very much need someone to fall back upon i call her and it lifts my spirits. I think of her every now and then and i still feel close to her.

I don't know that I have a best friend right now. I do keep in touch with the best friend I had as a child, but she lives across the country and we haven't seen each other in years. Right now all my friends are online friends. While some may think that sounds strange, I am disabled so its easiest for me. I do miss the days of having girlfriends to shop with or go to craft shows etc. Or just someone to call and chat with if you had a good or bad day.

you know I was thinking about this the other day, I don't have one anymore that I would call a best friend, I have a few friends but not one I would call best, I did have one but she passed away a couple of years ago, I think I prefer to just have a few friends rather than best any more as a few years ago I did get cheated on by my them best friend so I am happy not to get too close to any one friend these days...

Hello golfproo, I have two best friends that I knew since I was a kid. We still keep in touch with each others once a while. But, it is quite sometimes since the last time we met each other due to our busy schedules. So, we just talk on the phone or maybe chat online whenever time permits us to do.

Well, sometimes, your significant other could also be your bestfriend. When you say bestfriend, it doesn't have to be a different person. You know, all of us would meet a lot of people and there are times that we would think that they are there to stay. Unfortunately, people come and go into our lives and we have to accept that. The people who stayed with you and stand up with you no matter what, then you could call them your bestfriend, even if it is your significant other. If this is the case, then you are lucky. Not everyone could claim that their boyfriend/girlfriend is their best friend as well.

Hi, Some valid points. I think it is true that many people cannot claim that. cheers,

Yes, I have a best friend. I have known her for fourteen years now. We don't have much communication as before but we still make sure to keep in touch whenever possible. We have found new set of friends but the foundation we had build in our friendship is so strong that nobody can replace it yet. Maybe we will friends for life. Take care =)

I had the same problem a while back with that issue.. all of my friends took different directions on their education process.. Now it's hard to regroup and just to talk... that's why we use msn.. and skype... But i wish i could spend more time with them. About the girlfriend, if you can count on her, talk about anything, and trust here, well there's your best friend ;) I always say that "girlfriend must be an important part of my friends list" if your girlfriend is not your friend... well who else can you count with? But one advice.. don't loose track of friends because of girlfriends.. been there.. done that.. and lost some valuable friends in the process. Had to rebuild the "downline" ;)

well, i got 3 best friend. my wife is my no.1 trusted one, we would share our tears and joys together forever, even if she acts like a she-tigher, LOL. the other 2 were my roommates when we were studying in our uni, CNU. one of them is pursuing his doctorate degree in Russian, the other one is working for the Beijing Olympic Games, u know, he's responsible for the bird nestle or the national stadium in China.

Yes, I do have a best friend. She is wid me since ma 8th class. It all depends on how well we maintain relationshps with others. If either of the persons lack in communicating with each other, the strength of the bond weakens up easily resulting in the breakdown of the relationship. So, itz always better to have best understanding b/w each other to stay all along in up n downs.

Oh did you happen to read my mind? I had atleast 4 best friends before. And although I talk to all of them atleast once in a year(now, am I not supposed to wish them Happyu Birthday?), I am thinking if I have lost all my friends in the life that I am living now. I used to tell all about my day to my friends chatting atleast 2 or 3 hours in a day and all that I do now whenever I get to chat or call them is "How are you? How are your spouse and kids doing? How's life?" and the answer to all of this is fine. And then, we don't have any other things to say to each other and end up saying "goodbye, see ya". Now what sort of friendship is this? We are not there for them unless one of us opens up and tells a problem. At once we all jump in to help our friend out - we give suggestions, we pray that they get back ontrack soon. And then, when their problem is solved, we are back in square one asking "How are you etc.." and saying goodbye within a few minutes of saying hello. Do we really need our friends to be in trouble so we can 'be there' for them? What sort of a friendship is that anyways?

well its good to have best friend in life but for me i better choose to call our friendship close friend rather than best friend coz so may times it happened to me that my best friend is my best enemy and she betrayed me in lots of things that made me hurt!

I found my true bestfriend after I was done with school . I was hurt deeply by someone who I always thought would be in my life , but it didnt happen and I moved on . I met my bestfriend around 3 years ago and she is the best thing that has ever happened to me . It is an equal friendship and we both bring out the best in one another . It is great to know someone will always be there thru the good and bad.

I would rather not classify anyone of my friends has a "Best Friend" has I could not make one or the other have higher status than one or the other. -Sound

Hey, I have a best friend for about 10 years and several friends for over 6 years and so on.I really cherish our friendships. I think we should make efford to keep a friendship, like make a phone call, have parties, send an e-mail and so on, that is simple but very important for a friendship.
