There are many non-government agencies that help out people in crisis. If you want to help the people in Iowa, or victims of fires and tornadoes, but live far away, prayer can always help. If you want to help financially, here are some of the organizations. You can donate money or time or blood. • American Red Cross http://www.redcross.org/ • United Methodist Committee on Relief http://new.gbgm-umc.org/umcor/work/emergencies/ongoing/springstorms/ • AmeriCares http://www.americares.org/wherewework/united-states/us-emergency-response.html • Farm Aid http://www.farmaid.org/site/c.qlI5IhNVJsE/b.2723627/k.9187/Disaster_Fund.htm

Never apologize for looking out for your family first! I wan't soliciting by any means! Just thought I'd share some interesting info on who helps when disaster hits. And sometimes people feel like they want to help out and don't know how...

Esther Lou this is a valuable post. I will only add that if you have an opportunity to give blood, do it. It is free to you, and is safe, and clean. You do not know how many lives you may save. Thanks for posting these links.
