You will lose some water weight from the water pills. My ankles have been swelling too, I bought some over the counter water pills. They help but don't do that good of a job. Did the doc tell you why your ankles were swelling?

But when she said 'water pills' she meant pills to get RID of water, not to make her retain it :-)

You will loose some weight, but only the weight that is excess water. As soon as you get off of the pills, you will gain the weight back.

They say that if you are retaining water, water pills will help you to reduce some of your weight. I have used them before and did not lose one pound though. I do not know the names of water pills these days. It has been years ago since I took them. I never had to take them. I just took them on my own. sorry I am not of much help here.

I have taken water pills before. They will help you lose weight because when you go to the bathroom so much you will be losing the excess water. Please make sure that you eat bananas or something that will replace the Potassium that you will lose from taking them though or you may develop severe leg cramps. I have come to the point that I can't take them anymore for that reason. Even when I half the dosage I still have really bad cramps so I had to just stop taking them. But I wish I could so that I could help to get my weight off.

My dad has been on water pills for years. Best thing is not to eat salt of any kind too. He has too be on them as he retains water. He has excessive thirst with them and pee's alotttttttt. Good luck to you.

yes you will lose weight as they are a diuretic and willmake 'you void more frequently. Furoside was the one that I was one and it helped me to lose weight and to get my ankle swelling down too. also you should get a lot of exercise and work on getting your blood pressure down too.
