Our cat Wilbur has decided that he likes Mark (Amanda's boyfriend)!!

Saturday night after Mark brought Amanda home they were sitting on the couch looking at Amanda's year books from school. I had fed Wilbur so he wouldn't be meowing at Amanda wanting her to feed him so she could spend her time with Mark. I had already left them alone and went to my bedroom. She told me yesterday while we were eating lunch that after Wilbur got finished eating he came to the living room where they were. Suddenly he jumped up on the back of the couch, walked over to where they were sitting and started meowing at them wanting a pet. Amanda couldn't reach him because he was right behind her head but Mark reached up and gave him a pet on the head. He then laid down with his legs hanging down LOL!!! I told Amanda that I wish I had known about it because if Mark hadn't minded I would have taken a picture of it, that would have been so cute. But I am adding one where he got on the couch behind Stuart so that will give an idea. LOL!! It is cute to know that Wilbur has approved of Mark like the rest of us LOL!!! Thanks for listening!!

I'm happy to hear that Mark has fit right in so well with your whole family. They say and I believe it if pets take a likeing to you, it indicates you're a good person.

Good Morning! I don't think I've heard that before but it sure makes sense. Animals are a lot smarter than we give them credit for and I believe they know people, sometimes a lot better than we do LOL!! Thanks for responding!!

That is how I knew that my hubby was a keeper, on our first date. My sister had a cat that no one could pet, and she came and crawled in Bob's lap. I figured he was worth a few more dates.
I bet Wilbur was very cute with Mark.

I didn't get to see him because I had already left the room to give Amanda and Mark their privacy, but according to Amanda he looked really cute LOL!! I'm sure he was too. :)

Hi SheliaLee,
It's a very reassuring thing to have your cat accept your girl's boyfriend, because cats are generally quite perceptive and good judges of character.
They can see things or sense things about people that might not be so obvious to you or me or any other casual human observer.
It doesn't necessarily confirm the compatibility of the couple, but the cat's take on the situation at least suggests that the fellow isn't hiding a nasty personality under a pleasant exterior.

I think so too. All of us already approve of Mark anyway because he is so good to my daughter, but it is good to know that Wilbur likes him too. I would hate for him to go up to Mark and take a nip at him or something like that. We would be terribly embarrassed!!! But I don't think anything like that will happen. Amanda told me also that the last couple of weeks when Mark has left to go home that Wilbur would be sitting on his car. He doesn't have front claws so he didn't scratch anything thank goodness!! Mark asked him "Wilbur do you want to ride back with me to Itawamba tonight?" LOL!! We live in Alabama and Mark lives in Mississippi so he would have had a long ride LOL!!! Thanks for responding!!

That would have been a nice pic to add to the family picture album! Glad Wilbur approves of Amanda's boyfriend. You know cats can me finiky (not sure if I spelled that right or not.)

Wouldn't it have been though!! LOL!! I told Amanda about starting this discussion when she got up and she said "Mama I think he already showed he liked him because the last couple of weeks when Mark has started to leave Wilbut was sitting on his car." I had forgotten about that LOL. Oh well, you are right, they can be particular about who they make friends with. I remember now that Mark had mentioned about Wilbur sitting on his car and one night he said "Wilbur do you want to ride back to Itawamba county with me?" LOL!! Mark can be really funny when he wants to be. When we were going to that singing last Saturday night he really had all of us laughing. Thanks for responding!!
