I missed the frist 3 episodes. I like the new tv show "Ugly Betty". She is rather refreshing. It's is nice to see a main character that is sweet and not portrayed as an idiot. Since she obviously is not supposed to be beautiful. She is a good role model as she is not ultra thin. Do you think we are seeing the beginning of a new trend? I think the public is better able to identify with her And I think the braces are cute.

I LOVE Ugly Betty. I think she is so great. She reminds me of a young me with her optimism and her determination.
According to the original version of Ugly Betty (the hispanic one) she is supposed to go through a transformation and turn from the Ugly Duckling to a beautiful swan. Now, personally, I hope that the American version of this "soap opera" goes in a different direction. I hope that Betty and Henry hook up and live happily ever after.
It will be interesting to see what twists and turns this show will take since the original only lasted 3 months, as most latin soap operas do, and they do have an ending. American shows can last as long as they get high ratings. So hopefully this one will last for awhile.

I really enjoy the show too. Thursday nights are my tv night with Ugly Betty first, followed by Grey's Anatomy. I also enjoyed Men in Trees until they took it off.
I think Ugly Betty will be on for awhile. It seems to appeal to quite a few people. The story lines are pretty good too.

oMG...I wrote this huge response to your question and the computer glitched...argh!!! I ll try it again.
I watch this show and am a HUGE fan. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Ugly Betty. I think it is a very refreshing show out there at this time where all shows have are about crime and detective work (NCIS, CSI, LAW & ORDER, 24, etc, etc, etc).
Also, Ugly Betty is not another "beautiful people" show (desperate Housewives, that new show with Bo Derek and Morgan Fairchild, OC, etc. etc. etc.) although it has beautiful people in it, the heroine is a "not so pretty" woman like Betty.
My hats off to Ugly Betty...I hope it stands the test of time.

Its a great show. So you don't have to be sexy to be on tv it all what is in the inside
