And my sister is nowhere to be found. My nephew's wife is having their 2nd baby tonight and we can't find my sister anywhere. Her cell phone goes straight to voice-mail and she's not home. She missed the birth of her first grandson by about 15 minutes because we were all out of town. She drove 5 hours to get there to see the baby and just missed it. It looks like she's going to miss this one too, and she's here in town somewhere, we just can't find her!

I am a bit confused, your sister would only be a 2nd Auntie to the coming baby, so why is it so important that she be there? I don't think i'd want all my Aunts & Uncles at the birth of our child - we only had immediate family when our daughter was born, they all kind of visited during the day when they had the time - there was no need for them to be there for the birth. Especially since my Aunts etc aren't immediate family to my children. I guess it was different for us too because we had a caesarean but still, even if i'd given birth naturally, the only one in the room would've been my partner & the only ones waiting out in the waiting room would've been my Mum & Dad like it was.

Hey, that's ok, it does get kinda confusing - even for us! They did find her in time and she was able to be there for this grandbaby. Wow, it's been a week and I still haven't called her yet! Congrats to you!

I hope by now you found your sister. I would love to be with my son when he has his first. He just told us the other day that they where expecting. Good luck in finding your sister.

Yeah, my neice somehow got ahold of her - not really sure how yet. She got there about an hour before the baby was born so it worked out. I just didn't get a whole lot of sleep that night! Congrats to your son!

A baby coming into this world is such a joyous occasion. Congrats to your family. I am glad your sister made it in time.

Is this deliberate on her part? I would think if it was that close to due date she would make sure her phone was on. I did hear of a doctor once who got to a delivery just in time to catch the baby and cut the cord.

She was eventually found, and I haven't had a chance to talk with her yet. I'm pretty sure she was out of cell service (or in a bar that she likes to go to) or didn't hear the phone. My nephew was freaking out because his mom missed his first baby's birth by like 10 minutes. She drove 5 hours from our family reunion to see it that time. We knew she'd be upset about missing it again! I have no clue what she was thinking!

I hope that you are able to find her in time for her to see the birth of her second grandchild. Keep on trying to reach her.

I was going to go driving down where he boyfriend lives - my son has been there once but doesn't remember which house it was. I didn't want to go stalking around neighborhoods around midnight, and my mom did call me around 1am to tell me that they got in touch with her. I sure didn't get a lot of sleep though.

Its a shame that she may miss out, but that is something that she will have to live with. Some people had just rather not be around such as hospitals and feel very uncomfortable in situations that will put them there. Certainly she knew that the baby was due and would be available unless there were some reason.

We have no clue what she was thinking, but they did find her and she got there before the baby was born. She missed the first baby by 10 minutes (after driving 5 hours to get there!).
