Mobile: Pay as you go or Contract?

I have always used the pay as you go phone. I have a cheap Nokia. I don't use my phone very often anyway. I use it for an emergency mainly. I also use it to send text messages to my husband when he is away from home. It is alot cheaper and easier for us. I just don't want to be stuck in a contract either. My daughter loves to talk on the phone and we may have a huge bill.
