I think a wife, above all, should be understanding and there for her husband through thick and thin. She should be someone with whom he feels comfortable, who shares his life's mission, if not share then at least supports him in it. A man, after a hard day's work should look forward to meeting his wife, because he feels at ease and relaxed in her company. Someone he can share himself with, someone with whom he can be himself. Someone whom he looks forward to meeting because he knows that he can throw his worries away in the comfort of her arms. A wife is someone who should be there for her husband always. And, of course vice versa!

Hi Painkiller, your questions just reminds me of last Mother's day celebration presentation in our church, the preaching focus on Proverbs 31 " A wife of noble character", to sum up it defines and describe almost 'perfect Wife', it honestly made me cry because I never went half of her if I will compare. But every wife has unique quality, she should be proud of. For me, one of most important characteristic wife must have is a Fear of the Lord, goodness in heart, faithfulness not only to her husband but in every thing she does. And ofcourse the "love"

love that brings both wife and husband together. Marriage is mutual helping each other. Husband is the best friend of a wife. Same like wife is care taker of Husband. In india it is believed couples would be together for seven seven births. So it is not just for this one birth. It is the relation ship for eternity.

I think that the wife should be in submittance with her husbands wishes as long as the do not break any of God's law. I know that some of you women out there may find this a bit in the olden days and we don't want our men to know this because if they did they might take it the wrong way. But if you get a good man that loves his wife then he will not abuse this privelege. Men also need respect and when you give respect they will give you the emotional comfort that you deserve.

Dear painkiller77, I think that the most important quality that any wife should possess is understanding her husband's interest and she needs to have a lot of patience with her husband. But this can only work if the husband returns the favour as well. It wouldn't be fair if the wife is understanding but his husband is not. In the end, marriage is a 2-way thing.

I think love should be a gibben. But, the one thing a wife needs to have is the ability to see things from both sides. You and her.

I think it should be commitment. If you are committed from the beginning to go trough everything together as a married couple then you should have an easier time working though the good times and bad.
