Do you use the MPAA ratings to pre screen a movie for your child or family? I have little ones so its G and PG rated movies for our family. I don't push the line to PG-13 because its my responsibility to filter out what I don't want them to see until I think they are mature enough. Does this guide help you pick movies?

My kids are 7 and 8 and they do watch some PG-13 movies I use my own judgement as my kids can handle alot they understand its not real. They have seen a few R movies but not to often those are hard for me too watch sometimes so im careful with them.

Now they have DVD players that edit out the bad parts and you can still watch the movie. Although, there are some R rated movies that would be about a minute long if I used this device.

I don't have nay children so don't need to filter what gets put on my tv but, I can see how it would be useful if I needed to filter out certain things from young eyes. x

Yes, it does, I don't have any children but I have 4 nephews and usually one of them is here during the summer. He likes to rent movies but I always check them and see what they are rated first before I let him. He's 11 yrs old, so sometimes I'll let him watch something thats PG-13, it just depends on what it is about. I don't let him watch the violent kind or gorey stuff.

I don't use it. My grandson only watchs cartoons and isn't interested in other stuff. When he gets older I think my daughter will rate what he sees.
