Are you afraid about RAT?

My kids scared about rat.So I do always have the trap for them,but they are very intelligent and now it is not working.The one I have was the sticky material deployed under the sink and under the bed,but it could not catch any right now.This morning when I woke up,I saw a lot of rat mess on the top of our dining table and was worried that the rat poison's was form there.How about you,are you afraid with the rat?What do you use in your home to eliminate this creature at your home?

I am not afraid of rat, but hate. 
I had eliminated all the rats which used to enter my residence, with help of trap. Now

when i was in college and i live alone, there was this one night that a rat was running around my bedroom (which was actually the living room as well), anyway, i was sleeping in a sofa bed back then when the rat ran near my feet... i was really scared not only because of the squirmy features of a rat but also because i had flashes of illness that it may cause. i called a dear friend of mine on my mobile while crying on his ears. he was from up north and i was in manila so he can't just go there. he kept telling me that i shouldn't be afraid of such a tiny creature, but then again, when it comes to germs, size does not matter, right?

I am very scared of rats also. they bite and carry diseases. We do not have any around our home that I know of but if we did, I would buy a rat trap or rat poison to kill them. I would try the rat trap first and if that didn't work, I would set a little bit of food out for them and load it with poison.
