I heard this on the radio last week and looked up an article on it. It says, in part:
"Bumper stickers such as “Make Love, Not War” and “More Trees, Less Bush” speak volumes about a vehicle's driver — but maybe not in the way they might hope. People who customize their cars with stickers and other adornments are more prone to road rage than other people, according to researchers in Colorado."
They say it's because the decorations mark territory, the people think you're violating their space if you pull in front of them or go too slowly. Those with stickers think of the road as theirs and everyone else is intruding.
This theory seems suspect to me. I know very nice people with lots of bumper stickers and they're no more prone to road rage than I am. What do you think?

i live in ontario canada and i love to read peoples bumper stickers and personalized plates (for $100 you can get a personalized plate here in ontario) but i agree with you because they could have bought the car with the bumper stickers all ready attached!

It's fun to read them! I saw one I laughed out loud at. It said "where are we going and why are we in this handbasket?" LOL! Remember the old saying, going to hell in a handbasket?

Stickers on a car do reflect what some people think.
Most people who use stickers think about the ones they put on their vehicles.
Yes, a mild and personable sticker couyld indicate a reasonable person.
One, who we hope, doesn't give in to road rage easily.

I read the article about this the other day and I kind of believe it. I've seen a lot of people with bumperstickers be absolutely insane on the road while I'm driving. I think it's a good theory but that's just me.

I don't think it's necessarily the stickers themselves which cause road rage. People choose the stickers based on their own feelings and opinions, so those whose cars have stickers with violent messages are more likely prone to road rage than someone with a religious or school-related sticker.
