Do you have a fight for TV remote at your home

Ours is a big family. Though we have seperate televisions at our rooms each, but we spend most of our time at home in our common roon, chatting, gossiping , watching television with each others. My father likes to watch news channel. I like to watch Economic Channels and English Movies or old hindi movies. My younger brothers like to watch songs from latest hindi movies. My nephew likes to watch cartoons. Ladies in home like to watch family drama. We normally have friendly fight with each other on gaining control on TV remote. Do you also have the same at your home. How do you manage it.

I laughed when I read this. Half the time we can't even find the remote in our house so the rule is, the person who can find it rules the remote for the time being. When it gets lost again, the next person who finds it gets their chance. Thankfully, we have enough variety of televisions in our house to not fight over that too much.

Good rule indeed. But how does this rule works when a senion member like you get the remote and your father keep sitting, waiting for your TV program to end to watch his. Do you loose your control on remote then?

Your answer strucked in my mind for a best answer. But I read all 21 first before selecting you as best response. There were 4-5 good answers and yours was best.

lol.. yes when we are still kids. My siblings and parent and me have different likes of tv programs which i guess is pretty normal in a family and i remember how frustrating if you havent got the chance to watch your favorite show but now it's different and grown up so it's more on a give and take and besides no more fights because they're living with there own family and i am now only left no fights as i own the remote hehehe...

When both older kids were here all the time, there was a fight between them for the bigscreen. I tend to watch tv mostly just in the bedroom, this is where hubby and I record all of the series we watch. When it used to be a problem, I would tell them they had to switch off and take turns and if they were unwilling and kept arguing or fighting to the point where I could hear it at the other end of the house, then nobody got to watch it.

Same is the formula in my home, when there is a fight in home for remote, the rule is nobody is going to watch it.

Oh you just made me remember th good old days! As a child we used to fight over remote and anything for that matter. We used to have fun all the time. How I miss those times! However, nowadays I do not find myself there. I live with my parents and we have our separate television sets. But when my sisters, nieces, nephew come down we kind of have the same fun. I sacrifice most of the times unlike the old days.

Used to have fights over the remote. Sometimes my bf and I lo=ike the same shows. More often we do not like the same shows. Solved the problem by getting an extra remote. We each have our own. He likes to watch tv early in the morning while I'm asleep so we rarely conflict.

no not really. There are times that me and my mom will fight over who gets to choose the show but that hardly ever happens because we hardly ever watch t.v. together.

No not really. There is only me and my boyfriend in the house. He works most evenings so I can watch what I want and when I want. When we are home together, I moan about some of the programmes he insists on watching!!

At my aprents house there are two TVs.One is the old TV which has been there for over 10 years and the other was bought some 2 years back. There are 4 members now in the family consisting of my Dad,Mom,Brother and grandmother.I and my wife stay in another house where there is one TV.Me and wife too often get into arguments as each would want to watch some other program on TV.This leads to some petty fights often lasting sometime till we go to sleep. At my parents home too there were such arguments but now as there are two TVs they have reduced.

Not at all. My sister and I like the same programs so most of the time we watch together without having to fight for the remote control. My parents however, don't always watch the same things as me, but then I don't start fighting for the remote, I just go to my room and watch my program on my own tv. :)
