tube tied and pregancy

July 3, 2008 7:52am CST
I have had my tubes tied two and a half years ago. About two weeks ago I started to feel like I was preganant. The nausea, the headache, breast bigger and sensative, and just feeling bloated all the time. Two weeks ago when the symptom arrived I took a pregancy test and it was neg. Has anyone been through this before. If I am prego will I be able to carry the baby to full term. thanks

I had my tubes cut, tied, and cauterized. Do you know I was told I still had a 1 in 500 chance of getting pregnant. You better get a pregnancy test and keep it close by. Until you know for sure that you're not pregnant take care with any medications you take. I never did get pregnant, that was 12 years ago. The odds are what floored me.

Something this important should be discussed with your doctor, not unqualified strangers on the internet. If you think there is a remote chance that you could be pregnant, you should call your doctor immediately and let them advise you. Your situation could be completely unique so I would never trust the suggestions of someone other than a qualified medical professional in an instance such as this.

If you had your tubes tied (or ligated) already, I think it is impossible to get pregnant again. However, as one user commented, it is best to consult your OB and not people from the internet. Best that you go and see her so that she can assess why you are feeling that way.

Have you been visiting the Hosipital regularly since you had it done? I don't know if it's possible but you can take an appointement with your Doctor to know what exactly is happening.

Hi draonfairy! It is possible to get pregnant even if your tubes are tied. This happened to my cousin, she got her tubes tied and three years later she was pregnant. So knowing this i opted to have a tubal ligation, where i had my tubes cut and burned, which proved effective seeing that was ten years ago. I wish you well on your doctors visit, and hope everything is ok. {{{hugs}}}

There are different forms of having tubes tied, and in some cases it can heal itself. I had them cut and burned also and that was 34 years ago. But you know sometimes your body can play tricks on you. Once right before my tubal I thought I was pregant and but since I had not let my husband near me the month between going off the pill and the tubal, it was not true. But sometimes stress can cause the symptoms. But it is still better to be sure.

Yes, definately see a doctor about this. Don't rely on anything people online tell you. You could be having any number of problems that have nothing to do with pregnancy.

Update I went to the doctors yesterday and I got the results of my sonogram. I have a bunch of little syst on my left ovary and one big syst on my right ovary. She put me on birth control to strink the syst. Which I never heard of birth control strinking syst and if that does not work I go back in eight weeks to set up surgary to have my ovaries removed.

You should check for pregnancy once again. But sometimes all those symptoms could be due to hormonal changes. Usually the tubes are cut and tied. If done properly, it is the best option for contraception. Talk to your doctor too during an appointment.
