This depends on th type of food between meals and level of physical excercise which it performs. Where light foods containing 16% of daily calories gained. The deal between light food meals have some benefits, which reduce the voracity of eating meals in the core. Besides avoiding infections, as some researchers found that people who dividethe basic meals to more than 3 meals a day are less vulnerable to heart disease and high cholesterol in the blood. The researchers also addressed by 5 to 6 and snacks perday was far from addressing the validity of 3 and large meals only.

Well it really depends on how many meals you eat a day. It's better to eat 6-8 meals a day because it keeps your blood sugar levels and metabolism lower throughout the day. If you eat the traditional 3 meals a day then between each meal if you don't eat anything your body will go into "starvation mode" and store fat more effectively. Think of it this way, if you have a fire and you want to keep it lit all day what would be better, throwing 3 large clumps of wood on it during the day or feeding it little amounts many times throughout the day. So yes eating between meals is good as long as you don't eat too many caloires. It keeps your body costantly fed and happy :)

You make a good figure of speech. However, I juat want to mention you that if you eat 6-8 meals a day, maybe your stomache is always in work. It's important to make your organs sufficient rest.

I also find that eating between meals is healthier because when mealtime comes you don't want to eat so much because you are somewhat already satisfied. I also read about this in a Health magazine called "Prevention".

Its better to have small meals often than having big meals 3 times a day.. They leave you full and lazy!! Its better to have small meals often means after every 2-3 hours in a day. It keeps your stomach active and metabolism works well this way!! You stay active and fresh all the day...!! SO I am not saying between meals in fact.. try have light meals through out the day it will be a better option..!! BUT have a heavy breakfast because you just spend your 8 hours in sleep last night without eating anything..!! Heavy breakfast is healthier option.. its helps you from not over eating before your meals, and hence keeps you from getting overweight. :)

Dear friend, I do eat between meals may be some snacks but do not take coffee or tea. I do hope its effect on body reflects after when that person suffers with any disease or diabetics, so on. Any eat well and burn it well by doing exercise or any other work. Too much of any thing is too bad. More over it entirely depends each individuals health and digestive different and also resistance power. Hence I personally feel that being hungry is different in each person so is the resistance and other health aspects too differs. Hence eat well and make sure it will not effect the health too.

I hope it's not harmful. I'm not a big eater but I do eat a lot. What I mean is I eat a little of everything and so what happens is that during breakfast, lunch and dinner I don't eat a lot but I do have snacks in between this meals. For example after lunch I like to have somthing sweet like chocolates or cake. Then by mid-afternoon I would take a liitle snack like maybe a sandwich. Then I'll have dinner and a midnight snack before I go to sleep. So in a day I usually have 5 to 6 little meals in a day. I sure hope it's not harmful. I just can't seem to eat a big meal. I get full easily and then get hungry easily too. ~

Actually its better to eat every 2 hours but in very small portions. The more you eat through out the day the better. The catch is it has to be something small. The reason being is that as long as your metabolism is working it doesn't have to store anything for later which makes you gain weight. If you are eating 3 large meals a day and then also snacking,it doesn't sound to good as it would lead to weight gain. Skiping meals is not good either , your body needs the calories to get you the energy you need to function through out the day.

It is good to have taken little meals more frequently than taking stomach full meals. But i have also heard that taking so many in between meals, make you fat. so it should be taken need wise.

That was also recommended for me by my doctor when I was diagnosed to be diabetic but. It seems I am used to the three meals and i do not eat anything in between. I think that is better but in my case I work in the morning and I cannot afford eating in between or if I can do so I do have the tendency to overeat because sometimes work and eating together you forgot you've overeaten already. The thing that you will notice is that you're already full and opps.

I tend to eat snacks between meals because I usually eat very small meals to begin with. It's only if I eat enough to feel really stuffed that I won't snack later on. I think it's better to eat small meals, because the feeling of being stuffed is unpleasant.

my diabetes nurseeducator says that eating five light meals' a day is a good way to keep your blood glucose level and I often do do this, not all the time but a good partof the time as it really does work and you are never hungry thatwasy' as you are always having your bloodsugar at an even keel.

You should eat 6 small meals a day, not 3 big ones. Its hard to get into that habit though, most people can't adjust their way of thinking to incorporate this type of eating routine. Eating between meals isn't harmful if you're doing it right.

It depends on the person. If you are someone who tends to put on weight as soon as you begin eating them it can become harmful. I love to eat snacks before eating a hearty meal. Some snacks are healty while others are not. I don't care what I eat because I am not weight conscious, I have a sweet tooth and love to eat sweets which the doctor warn me about but still insists on doing. I love to eat certain types of fruits and as much as this is healthy it can also enhance one weight. So as I say it depends on the particular person.

Why did you ask a question and then answer it yourself? Just wondering. Anyway, also eating small frequent meals can help keep your blood sugar stable and is good for people dealing with hypoglycemia or diabetes.

It really depends on the physique of the person. Someone who is 5 foot weighing 130 pounds (58Kgs)or more should avoid eating between mesls. If you are just about average weight for your height you can eat between meals but to a limit but if you have a high metabolism you can eat more between meals. I have to highly disagree with the statement people are less vulnerable to heart disease and high cholestrol if they eat more than 3 meals a day becase you are prone to heart disease if you are overweight. For cholestrol it depends really on if it runs in your family history but overweight people can self inflict that damage. BUt most of all it depends on what types of food you eat everyday. If you eat vegetables and fruits only without any creams, sauces, cheese, etc you can basically eat what you want when you want. Diet is the key if eating between meals is harmful or not.
