I'm sure many of you are counting fats, calories, Weight Watcher points, or whatever. I have done a good job at losing weight, although I still have 20 more pounds to lose to get to my goal. Anyhoo, I have been craving Dairy Queen ice cream for 2 days! And, I can tell you, it is starting to annoy me. I am not quite sure what to do--go ahead and eat a little bit of it to satisfy the craving? Or, keep avoiding it and hoping the craving will eventually go away. In the meantime, I want my DQ! How do you handle it when you have food cravings?

Would having ice cream at home help you with your craving? If so, then check out the Skinny Cow or Blue Bunny ice creams available- some of them are only 50 calories a serving! I'm not sure how that translates into points, but you shouldn't completely cut yourself off from ice cream. You should be able to indulge a little without using all your points up in a day. Hope this helps!

Hello stagewhisper. I like your Skinny Cow idea. I am out of those right now (Hmm, I wonder if there's a connection between that fact and the fact that I'm craving ice cream). I do think having ice cream of any sort might help to curb my craving. I like the Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches and they are only 2 points. Also, there are some 100 calorie (2 pt.) ice cream rounds, dipped in chocolate that are pretty good. Maybe a trip to the store instead of DQ is what I need. Thanks for your suggestions, stagewhisper. Take care.

I wasn't even thinking about Dairy Queen. Of course now I am, lol. I've tried to concentrate on losing a few pounds, but it doesn't really seem worth it anymore. I miss drinking my soda by the liter. And fasting only leads to being twice as hungry. It must be frustrating to count calories, lol. I've never went that far before.

I found a place near me that has frozen yogurt items that are very similar to Dairy Queen's ice cream items. But, everything is low fat, low calorie and some are sugar and dairy free. So, it's actually a good choice to have that to satisfy my cravings. I would do what the first post said and try to find some lower calorie alternatives that are similar to Dairy Queen's items or see if Dairy Queen has a lower fat or lower calorie option. I know that Weight Watchers main goal is to teach people how to eat "within their means" and no overeat. So, that doesn't mean you have to cut out everything, just make smart choices.

Hi desertdarlene. Yes, thanks for reminding me that I can have what I want, just do it within reason. I am feeling better about the craving right at this moment than I was this afternoon. Plus, we're taking a trip in 2 days and I know we will be eating more than we usually do and not as healthy as we do at home. Thanks for your input on this one. Yes, lower calorie and lower fat items are the key to maintaining my weight and health. Take care.

I usually give into the craving so I get over it! LOL....I love DQ too...but try not to go too often. Sounds like you are doing great on your diet.....I have to get back on it as when I went on vacation I fell off!

Hello jillhill. I would love to give in to my DQ cravings, believe me. But we will be going to Vegas in 2 days and I KNOW I'm gonna be eating big time! So, I gotta shake this DQ thing, and quick. Yes, I've lost over 25 lbs. and kept it off. Some days are tougher than others. I feel about 10 times better. Plus, it's much easier to walk the treadmill and swim now. Get back on that horse, jillhill! You can do it. Take care.

I dont know if this helps at all, but DQ does have some sugar free items. I think they have sugar free dilly bars and possibly some other things as well. You could go check it out and if you absolutley have to have soemthing you could maybe get a small cone or something.

Hello snowy22315. Hmm, I could get a small dish of vanilla for 5 points (Weight watchers). That's not too bad. I didn't know they had sugar free dilly bars, I'll have to check in to that. I have had their lemon ice bars or whatever they call them. They aren't too bad. But, right now, it's the ice cream I am craving. Yes, I think a small cone is also 5 points, so that's a good suggestion also. Thanks for your response.
