I was wondering if anyone had used the company cash4gold-- or something similiar to them?
Form what I understand, cash4gold buys your broken jewerlry, and/or unwanted gold. You mail the items to them in a special envelope that they provide, and they mail you money back.
I would think that other companies similiar to them run in the same way, or close to it.
I have seen this advertised alot of places, and I've also seen auctions around my area that are doing the same thing. They have this big auction (like a show, I guess) and people bring their items and switch it for cash.
The reason I'm asking is, I have a lot of broken gold ear rings-- and some other things that since they aren't useful anymore, I thought I would convert to cash.
Has anyone done this? Are they legit? What was the exchange rate?
Thanks for answers.

I have never used anything like that before. someone sent me something in the mail though with the postage paid and they wanted me to send my used gold in it back to them. I do not trust those companies. I heard on the news that alot of those places are scams so be careful.

WHen my boyfriend seen the envelope and info that I had requested from the company, he kind of scolded me for it-- and said don't do it. He said basically, I'd probably be ripped off that they would jsut give me whatever money they felt like for the stuff, and would not be worth it. He advised me to just go to a pawn shop that they even would take broken stuff because it could be melt down. So, i guess that is the route I'm going to take-- Unless I find one of those gold places that have a show (like a convention??) and they trade your gold for cash right there without mailing it anywhere.

I never used cash 4 gold but know friends who have and it is legit. I have used local cash for gold places in my neighborhood when I had gold jewelery that was old and broken and basically had no use for and although I didn't receive what I paid for the jewelery initially, I did get money back so I didn't feel like it was a complete loss... Sometimes I got more than I thought I would and other times much less, but I believe it depends on the weight of the items.

I wonder how much I could get for the little that I have. I hope I get something worth while. The items that I was thinking of trading are broken anyway, so I guess a little is better than nothing. They are supposed to be sending me a special mailing envelope-- so I guess once I recieve that I'll know more.

If you haven't sent your gold and stuff in yet, don't do it! I did, and felt totally ripped off! I sent a bunch of stuff; 2 of the items were purchased for more than $300(10K) together a while ago (when the price of gold was much lower)and Cash4gold gave me about $2 for them. For the whole package of stuff I received a whole $6.25. I of course sent my check back to them promptly. Like I told them, I could have gotten more money by selling my stuff at a garage sale. So - seller beware.
