i have a friend whose wife fond of buying expensive clothing for their son who is just 9 months old..
well i do know that the baby excites her since it is their first born but buying expensive clothing may not be best for now...we all know how fast babies grow..
just recently she bought her kid (im the godparent hehe) a new pair of jordan shoes and that cost a lot...
what do you think on that?

I will never forget when my oldest son was a baby, his Godmother went on a trip ( she worked for the airlines then) brought him back a nice Italian wool sweater set. It was gorgeous, bit it had to be dry cleaned, HA
. It was obvious she did not have children. I could spot clean it, but what a waste.

I had another boy and he used it. I think I gave away all my baby things after that. I only have and wanted 2 children.

I think it's a bit silly, but I can't criticize if she can afford it and it brings her that much pleasure. Really, the kid couldn't care less if she drops $200 on his shoes or not, and he'll probably only wear them for a few months. It's a lot of wasted money unless she saves them for future kids or is able to sell them after he's done with them.
I have a friend who's rather well off, and she bought all of her baby's clothes at consignment shops and thrift stores because it didn't make sense to spend so much money on something that won't get used again. She doesn't intend on having any more children, so she's been donating them to battered women's shelters and single mother's organizations as he's done with them. Better for the environment, too.

As you said that baby is going to grow out of his clothes before you know it and they are probably going to wish they had brought something more practical, but on the other hand this may be their only child and they are probably really enjoying it and dont mind spending the money right now. Give thme some time.

Chances are he will only get to wear them a few times before they dont fit him anymore.Kids grow too fast to spend any amount of money on clothes or shoes for them.I am going to have to bite the bullet soon and but stuff for my sons because one of them only has 2 pairs of shoes that still fit him. When I do but though it will be cheap because they are only going to fit for a few weeks anyway.

if the baby is first born, i think it is but normal for mothers to buy expensive stuff for her baby coz she's still excited and the cost doesn't even matter. i am not speaking into general, i am speaking of myself...coz i am doing the same thing your friend is doing. my husband and i used to argue regarding that matter...but i won't mind.
