If we could have a strong public transportation system like Europe or some of Asian countries, we would not have faced this problem today of high gas price. But no one is proposing for a good public transportation system yet in their political issue. I think strong public transportation will help general American people a lot, and it will help to stabilize a little bit of the gas price in long run as demand for gas will be less. Also price of air ticket is going to be sky high, rail transport will be effective so much in this situation.
What do you think about it? Don’t we need it?

hi. I am not against a good public transportation system, but I would have to where ever they decided to put the new train or bus line. Also, how could i ever carry all of those groceries on the bus? I only have so many hands and there is only so much room. What is your opinion on this matter?

We need transportation mainly to go to work and college every day. For grocery you can just go one day per week. So, you can use your own car for that.

You are right, no one is addressing the issure from this point of view, and it is an area where America is lacking. We need transit systems that work. Mass Transit however is not very feasible in less densely populated areas.

Ya it is not very feasible in small towns and they don't need it. Because there is not much distance to go to reach somewhere. But in big cities it is helpful.

I am with you. If we all paided "higher" fares for ransportation (higher by a dollar or two) pitcing in to pay their gas, we'd save a lot of money ourselves, by not buying gas for our own vehicles. Sadly there are some people who would consider that "socialism" and this scares the crap out of most Americans. If they'd change their hinking on this, the world would be a much more inexpensive place to live, and we'd have cleaner air, too.

You are right. People just don't understand that simple thing. And yes pollution is another important thing to think about.

When I went to America I enjoyed traveling on Amtrak trains. The cost of plane tickets are not really high so therefore by rail is the way to go. By day it is pleasant to look out of the window on a train at the passing scenery. Then in the night time it is relaxing to sleep in a comfortable compartment. I visited Canada last year and their rail system has declined over the years. On Vancouver Island their train timetable is stupid. It leaves Victoria in the morning and goes up to Courtnay. It should be going into Victoria with commuters in the morning and taking them back home in the early evening. At the moment it appeals to tourists more than the local people.

Well, if we had the same public transportation that we have in places like Long Beach, California around the entire United States people could have a choice ,and They could take advantage of the public transportation instead of driving all the time. I agree with you because it makes a lot of sense to discuss the possibility of having a stronger transportation system.

Yes it does make a sense to talk about it. When people will get good choice then they will not mind to take it.
