Nearly every country has national emblems. A flower and an animal. I live in Scotland where the national flower would be the Thistle and the animal is the Golden eagle as the animal. what is yours? Are you proud of these emblems? Would you change them? for example Scotland could have the Haggis as our national emblem and a bottle of buckfast to wash it down. What do you guys & gals think?

I think I prefer to stick with the Thistle and the Eagle x! lol Don;t like Haggis and Bucky well lets face it we can do better than that! I still think Flower Of Scotland should be the official and legal anthem! xxx

our national flower lotus. - such a beautiful flower...
I am proud of my country and its heritage. I am from india. Our national animal is the tiger and our national bird is the peacock. I think our national flower is the lotus. The lotus symbolizes that good things can come out of the humblest surroundings. That is the lotus always grows in dirty swampy places but the flower is so beautiful ....

I live in Canada, Our natioanal tree is the maple tree, and it can be seen on all Canadian flags. Our national aimal is the beaver, and it can be seen on our $0.05 coin. I am very proud of these symbols, and very sentimental, because they remind me of Canada.

I am noit sure anymore if I am proud or not. Our country has made a huge turn for the worst. It is not really the country, but our leaders. Our identity is fine here in the United States but I am sure not proud of what we are going through with high gas prices and such here.

Our bald eagle would have been a turkey had Ben Franklin had his way, and although I'm fond of turkey when they are not landing on our roof with a thump or making that loud wild turkey pack noise they love to make, I should say I am fond of roasting them and dining well, but the problem with Ben's idea was that there seems to have been a bit of a conflict of interest there. Apparently just trying to drum up business for a friend of his who ran a turkey farm. Hah! So I'm proud that somebody put a stop to that and that we don't have a turkey as our national bird, except on Thanksgiving Day. I am very proud of our state flower, the California Poppy (next month I will be back in the desert and will have a different flower to be proud of!) In fact, most people are not even aware that the US now has a national flower or that it is the same as England's national flower (the fruit does not fall far from the vine?), but this became official in 1986 in the Wwhite House Rosse Garden, and yes our national flower is the ROSE. It has something in common with the thistle...thorns (sort of)

Did not know that about Ben Franklin. how weird! a turkeys' head does not cut it with a Bald eagle! no comparison! the rose is a strange choice. so english in thought. perhaps a deliberate throwback to the colonial days?

Perhaps a consequence of deterioration of our national long-term memory. But I guess the rose is better than a dandelion, although I am rather fond of dandelions, but that is now that I don't have to mow the lawn anymore.

Well, I was born in New Zealand where the national flower is the silver fern and the emblem is the kiwi, but now have lived in Australia for most of my life where the national flower is the wattle and the national animals are the kangaroo and the emu (both appear on the national crest). Confused? lol. I think that we should be proud of all the plants and animals we have in our nations and that they should all be recognised equally.
