Ok so I don't know about the rest of you, but althoughh I love food, I mean really love food, I have several issues when it comes to certain food types. How is it possible to like a specific food in one form but yet in another to completley dislike it? For instance, I love peanut butter, always have, and always will, but now you offer me a peanut and I will gag. Same thing goes for tomatoes, always disliked them, can't eat them, but yet, I love sauce on pasta, pizza, even tomatoe soup, but not a tomatoe????? So am I weird or is it just that I do not have an acquired taste for certain foods in certain forms? Do you have any weird issues with food such as mine or even something different?

Hie Ris, I don't think that's anything weird about it. It's a matter of preference and personal acquired taste. I like tomatoes as sauce, soup ,chutney, preserves but not really in the natural form. Same goes with my liking of a local fruit here " durian" in cakes, ice creams, savoury sauce, pudings, dishes but not in it's natural raw form. I think the mixing with other ingredients either mellows down the pungent taste or enhances it better than the original taste. That's what makes the food even more interesting and in variety with many different acquire taste and creative forms Cheers and happy posting.

I have the same problem with tomatoes. It seems like the texture of the fresh tomatoes is what does it for me. The insides just seems so gooey and slimy. I like tomato sauces and everything else made with tomatoes. I also like them sliced and cooked on a pizza, too. It's just the cold, raw tomatoes that I don't like. I should like them, though, because they are just so very good for me. I don't think you're weird at all.

Yup, the same here. I would eat chopped garlic which is cooked and mixed with the meat or vegetable dishes, but I don't like garlic cloves. Same with ginger - I love ginger marinade/paste, but not ginger slices.

You are not weird at all. I hate peanuts too and like peanut butter so long as it's not crunchy! My youngest son loves all vegetables so long as they aren't cooked. Give him a stalk of celery, it's like heaven to him. Put it in soup, he picks it out! And he's 20 years old. I think textures and strengths of flavors change with how the food is prepared, or not prepared. Maybe that's where your dislike of tomatoes yet love of sauce comes from.

I personally don't, but my brother has the same thing as you with tomatoes. He absolutely hates them, but will eat tomato sauce, pasta, pizza etc and even tinned tomatoes, just not fresh ones. So you're not alone!

It's funny you say that because I will eat a very, very thinly sliced tomatoe with olive oil and salt & pepper or even with fresh mozzarella but no other way. My neice eats them like an apple and I just can't comprehend it...lol...

Nope..of course you are not weird. You like processed food but not raw food. Thats all. Peanut butter is made from crushed peanuts plus other ingredients necesary to turn it into a new product, that is peanut butter. So is tomato soup/sauce. The tomatoes are processed together with other ingredients that turn it into a new product called tomato sauce. Processed foof taste more delicious because it has added falvour compared to raw food which still in its natural form. But beware, processed canned or bottled food contains a lot of chemical and food additives which is not healthy to our body. In other words, raw food taken in its natural state are nutritious compared to the tasty processed food.
