When Christmas time comes around, do you have enough to cope with it, or is it a struggle. I try to start earlier, to avoid this, as usually all the big bills come around at this time.

Yes, it is, and one that will be of use to the person you gave it to.

It's so hard to find that 'right' present isn't it?

In my family we don't do all that much with gift giving as we do with spending time together. We have a rule, only buy one small gift for the adults and spoil the kids. That makes it a lot easier and we are not spending a fortune. Sometimes we go over that but there is no compitition. My husband and I have years we can do a lot for Christmas and some that we can't. I have started already, I have a tendancy of giving people gifts early if I start too early. My mother is the worst at doing that.

Thank-you for your response. I used to give gifts earlier, but now have improved, and do it when it is meant to be given. Only took me ??????? years to do it though.

I try to start buying a few months ahead of time, so it isn't a huge amount all at once. I also try to make gifts and bake things.

I too start earlier as it does seem to take the pressure off a bit and that is not really what it is all about! Thank-you for your response.

I'm struggling a bit this year! My brother got married in October so family came over from NZ for this then we went up to port stephens for the week...so my money went on that. Now my mum has said she'll fly me home for christmas which is great, but now I've got to buy everyone presents lol We;re going to go to the markets one weekend and see if we can get some good cheap stuff there. And yeah we just got our bills this week! So not fair!

I have been in the past, but have done things differently now that they are grown up. When the grandchildren arrive, may be a different story! lol

All those years I had no problem, but this year I really have a problem. You see I was forced to leave my job due to extremely bad behaviour from my boss. and now I have a financial problem. But I will make it next year. Thank God my son is only 2 1/2.

I love christmas and shopping. I do start shopping early because I hate the crowds when it gets close to christmas. I like to just go out and look around and enjoy the sights and sounds of the season without having the pressure if having to get things.

I actually start shopping for presents early in the year because that way I can get good presents without spending a fortune. I check around for things that are on sale or special, buy it or layby if I cannot afford it all at ones and then put it away till needed. There are enough other expenses at Christmas without having to worry about spending on presents as well. Check our the January sales, or even a couple of days after Christmas when everything is marked down to make way for new stock. Have found some really terrific bargains at that time, and this year some of them were marked down by 75%. :)

I also try to start my shopping earlier, as for some strange reason we are still meant to pay all those bills before Christmas which is quite a shame! lol Have not ventured out to the January sales lately, but this coming year maybe different with not working anymore, a bit more time to do it!

Christmas? Christmas? Waaaaaaaaaan MY family started listening to Christmas songs and kareoking to them the day after Halloween! .. Other then the headaches from my tone deaf family lol..... And the headaches from being volunteered by everyone without volunteering myself oO{hmm what's wrong with this picture) To help everyone well.... Garland, Christmas lights, Balancing on unstable chairs and ladder weeeeeeee! Other then all of that.. And never having money to buy everyone anything well um... I uh admit I looooooooove Christmas, and Sure family may get dreamcatchers again! but they love them regardless if they are repeat homemade presents! So I guess it all works out. And well they get irritated cause I never make a Christmas list well. Its not fair to do so if I can't get anyone anything :) ... So Christmas shopping I do not do much of yet, I used to always Christmas shop on vacations... It's kind of a family joke about it too. They sent me to New york City with 600 dollars I came home with 400 of it, and presents for everyone and my souvenirs. :D . Good budgeting on my end has everyone else scratching their heads! lol.... Of course I traveled with a school trip and we all basically shared food with eachother the whole trip so food expenses were overall cheaper, Trick with trips is to travel in a group save money, on pooling... and well also they will help you pick out good gifts for all the age groups! :D - DNatureofDTrain

That is a pretty hard time peizli, especially just after Christmas and the first year your starting with the whole uniform etc. But how true we do seem to manage, not sure how but I must admit I did! Then when the 2nd one started, it all began again! lol Not much fun doing it on your own though!
