Some call this "Constructive day dreaming". These momentary trips can give you the jump start that you need. Your state of mind affects your body, thus, these "vacations" can be quite restful.
Close your eyes and picture the place that you wish to be in. Read up on this dream location so you can picture a detailed setting. The trick is to engaged all your senses with your imagination. Visualize sipping that fine red wine or soaking in the warm colors of the mediterranean.
This can be done during coffee breaks or during the noghts you can't sleep. The more practice you have, the more pleasurable it gets. Take mental snap shots of the places you have visited so that you can go back to it again and again. This is your happy place after all. Try it and have a good trip.

Thank you for reminding me. I did this for many years. How could I have forgotten it? It's truly a joy.

When people ask me where I'd gone (they noticed I was "vacationing" for a few minutes), I'd tell them I went to Exanaplanatooch. Thet was sort of a paradise in Hair, a 1968 hippie musical that I loved.

I would love to take me a mental vacation. My husband and I both work seven days per week and it gets very tiresome. I am constantly worried over bills and such. I would love to be able to take a mental vacation and not have to think or worry about those kinds of things for a few days.
