Ever wondered why it's so hard to get good Mylot referrals?

So I've been giving this entire Mylot referral problem some thought. Everyday I hear others say how hard it is to find willing Mylot referrals who will stay for more than a week. And I wanted to pass something along. Before Mylot I was into lots of other online businesses and found one thing to be true. Most of them required recruiting sub-reps or sub-affiliates. When you solicit the "money making" crowd you get a lot of sign ups from people who are expecting to get rich quick. These types of recruits usually leave the program quickly cause they don't get immediate wealth. Perhaps when recruiting for Mylot you could stress other non-money motives to attract people really interesting in learning or sharing new info. For instance, Mylot has a vibrant poetry, business, parenting, art, game and gardening community. Why not target people who are interested in talking about those things. Here are some links you can post on your blog. Be sure to add your Mylot referral link so that they are joining in your down line when they sign up. Free Gardening tips Talk to other Moms about daily issues. Get childcare advice on Mylot. Share your art with others! On Mylot. Find money making tips on Mylot. Free recipes on Mylot What's wrong with my cat? Find pet solutions on Mylot! Find a friend. Meet people from around the world and chat on Mylot. See what I mean? You can target your ad to the theme of your blog or site. For instance if your blog is about business you wouldn't be using the one for gardening. But you might mention how you've learned lots about online marketing from Mylot. Do you have any other tips for recruiting active members onto Mylot?

I think you're making a very good point. Recruiting people on mylot if all you do is stressing the money aspect is just not working. Earning here is too slow of a process and takes up much more time than anything else for it to actually be a substantial income. But if you stress the fun and the people and the informationa and interaction, then it actually would benefit in the long run. And isn't it what referrals are all about? The income in the long run??? Also, thank you for all the tips :) I might think them through and maybe try recruiting people to mylot.

Well, it's really hard to get active mylot referrals, I have 5 and all of them are not active. I sort of give up on getting referrals here because it's hard to get people to be active. I think it's not hard for them to sign up, but it's hard for them to have that kind of patience to type here.

That's the hardest part for me too. I've had referrals with other programs and none of them want to work. All lazy! I hate lazy referrals!

I agree that a lot of people hop in thinking they will get rich quickly and there's no such thing, pretty much 99% of it is a scam and the other 1% is the people that do get rich... by scamming the others! . I've tried to recruit people but most of them stop after a while. I try and add them to my friend list, respond to them and send them mails with advice and help and tell me to come to me with whatever question. It hasn't been helpfull so far though. Too bad, I have a lot of fun here and I'll be posting anyways so why not make money with it?

I agree, and because mylot is a nice place to be I feel like I'm actually doing this people a favour not just try and get myself some extra earnings. And the percentage sure is good .

I can understand your frustration. Once I was with another program and got nearly 20 referrals and only one of them made a sale in one year. After that I stopped recruiting. I'll try again with Mylot cause the referral money is good and if only one referral out of 100 does any work, that's an extra $100 yearly or so that I didn't have to work for! Not going to argue with that.

You are so right that so many people quit as soon as they figure out that this is not a get rich quick business. I have been doing it for social aspect only. Hey, I make a few dollars on the side, then that is great. This is the way I marketed it. But I have not been very active at doing so.

That's a pretty good idea. Many people would love to meet new friends online and if they get a little money for socializing, then that's not so bad either!

I think the money is the draw for them; then they realize that you have to do something meaningful to get that money. I also think that many people are not into forum posting as I am. I just love this whole thing. The fact that you get paid for i, and have met friends is what keeps us loyaly checking back in. I tend to do more now. When I first joined I had a hard time finding time to do it. Then after not posting or even checking in; I started up again. I make more now then I ever did back when I first started. I also enjoy it more. That helps. I really think that it's a hard "sell". I think you should just tell people. I am going to have a social at my home this month trying to recruit more members. I did that on my writing site and it sky rocketed my earnings. I just have them over and we all bring a plate, and chat. I tell them about it and answer questions. In person worked there. I'm trying it here soon.

I have a total of 4 referrals which is a good thing for me. I am not that good at getting referrals. I was actually surprised at getting four. Although like you said there not active. Only one or two were active for a while and then all of a sudden they weren't active anymore. You do make a really good point though and I am going to try that once I get a chance. I also need to add my refferal link to more places, I only have it on one place right now.

I talk a good game. But I've been very lax in posting my link too. I think that I'm going to put my Mylot referral link into my ebooks and publish them. That way they'll circulate the entire Internet. I could end up with hundreds or thousands of referrals!

You make a fantastic point. I am not on MyLot to get rich, I'm on here to supliment the inome I make with a little "icing on the cake," so to speak. In North America I don't think I could live on a dollar a day, but the extra $30 a month I make on here, is a nice little top-up to my SAVINGS acount, a thing that often gets neglected when I need almost everyting I have to meet my day to day needs. I think you are onto something about how to get new referals on here.

Isn't that the truth! Thirty dollars monthly barely pays my broadband bill. The economy here is sucking me dry. I don't know how we'll cope with another eight years of this. You know what I mean?

These are great ideas. Health and beauty tips and loising weight tips and also craft ideas sound good also. I need to get more referals myself. I have 2 but neither one hardly ever uses mylot. They both say that there isn't enough money in it. I tell them both that at least it does pay me.

I post on a lot of message boards and have my own message board, I got a couple of referrals from there who are active. It makes sense because people who already know how posting on message boards works and enjoy it will get into Mylot faster. Another advantage to give people is the vast amount of different topics you can discuss on Mylot there are practically no restrictions you can find and start discussions about anything you want. Don't ever just spam a message board with your referral link though as it is annoying to other members. I started a discussion about Mylot and placed a banner on my own message board as I could because I'm the admin there, if you are just a member of a board start a discussion and ask people to pm you for your referral link if they are interested. Some board let you post a referral link in your signature too so ask the admin if it's OK to do that on their board too as lots of people will see that.

Those are excellent ideas! I had not thought of starting another message board or forum to attract sign ups to Mylot. Does make sense. As you say, they already know their way around and know what to expect. Love that idea!

I understand! Blogging is not for everyone. I have a free movie blog so my referral link would mention something like, "Talk about your favorite movies!" Or, something like that. It's really a universal kind of technique.

I've not found a single willing recruit so far! (ha!ha!ha!)! Well it's their loss not mine. They said they don't have the wit to answer posts! How crazy some people could get. Imagine they would rather waste time chatting about non-sense things and they were not paid but still opted to do that thing. Anyway, thank you for giving some useful tips, maybe that could help me find a good and productive recruit. Wish me good luck!

I have not found a good way. My referrals only lasted 2 days or 15 post and I guess they got discouraged that it was earning so slow. I guess you just like it or you don't.

Some people just join for the money. Money is not a bad motivation if you're going to be online at a free forum anyway and posting. But if you are new to posting it does get tiring.

I do have referrals but only 3 are active as of the moment. Well, not as active as I am though. I must admit that it's really difficult to recruit new members here. I tried to invite as many people to sign up. Unfortunately, there are more people who thinks that this is some sort of scam or something. Others were reluctant because they thought that $10 is too small for them to invest time, effort and money. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait until I get to have more active referrals.

I don't know if that would work either. Have you tried it and have you goten any referrals by doing that? I have 38 referrrals here in mylot and not one of them are active. Most of them didn't even do one single posting so I don't understand why they took the time to sign up in the first place. I think the reason people join mylot is to make money, plain and simple. I think that most people aren't on the internet looking for a site like this, if they aren't into making money. I think people wouldn't even search out the site or our bloggs if they weren't looking for a way to make more money. So it may work for you, but I have my doubts.

Well, I have wondered that and found the answer. What people really want is money. And the process here is energy consuming and slow. So they think that they can find better things to do with the time. But they fail to understand the advantages of being on myLot. I have around 6 refs with a new addition today. None of them are active. Most of them have only around 3-4 posts. But what I like about myLot is that I get paid for what I do. So there's no begging people to join, although if they did, it would be good and helpful. I have asked some of my friends to join, some did, some didn't. It's upto them. I love myLot. It's a fun place. bourne

I get referrals for different sites from a referral site, but I have found out that it is a waste to try and get referrals for mylot there. Oh, I can get the referrals easy enough, but they just take the credits I invest and don't even respond to a single discussion most of the time. I do have my referral site posted in a couple of places though.

It's true! There is a gardening and hobby crowd; small business owners; moms; music fans; etc. And all of them would want to join to discuss their favorite hobby! Best of luck with the info.

wow thanks for sharing that information :)) really good advise, as i have problems recruiting, even with good friends. Just not willing to give it a try.. I try say you will learn more about me through discussions and how interesting it is here as well as making genuine nice friends.. I don't normally mention the earnings, only that it is a bonus.. i am working on a friend at the moment, online that spends much time at the computer lool i will MAKE him register or *SLAP* if don't hahahaha.. I really need referrals.. i got one that posted 6 here and i was surprised how much earnings can get from it :))) I will definitely try your advise
