Teens tanning more than ever? Why?

Because a lot of people think being tanned makes them look healthy and more attractive. I have to admit I like myself with a tan more....but years ago I stopped tanning (and I didn't even go that much) because once I was laying in there and thought about how I was not only frying my skin...I wonder how it affects my ovaries...(okay I am a thinker), my eyes (yes, I did not wear protective goggles, but even if i had the little piece of plastic wasn't gonna make feel better), and other odd things ran through my brain. So I stopped going. I still work out in my yard giving me a nice tan. I also use selftanner... IMO, with all the stuff out there people do ont have to do this...but I think people will still do it. Plus, I think a oldfashioned tan in the natural sun always looks better.

I really don't know they just do not seem to believe how dangerous it is and what they are doing to their Skin There are so many good false Tans out there now which is what I use on my Legs so why do they not use those instead I don't understand them at all

I never did tan, as such, I could not stand to lay still long enough, and turn and moisturize, etc. I do not protect my skin a whole lot and what gets tan, gets tan, but I am not out enough to really have a serious tan. I hate the look of leather on faces, as well as the tied back eyelids from face lifts, and the over bleached or overdyed hair, that the older sun worshipers seem to favor.

I don't understand it either. My skin is really pale, but I'd rather look like a ghost than get skin cancer from tanning.

I went through a few years of no tanning. I was a tanner when I was younger and the skin cancer and aging thing started to get to me. I'm 35 and still look young so the sun never aged me. The problem was that I got adult acne and my doctor told me I was Vit. D deficient and told me I could use some time in the sun and some milk. I still drank the milk but no sun. Then I went to Mexico and got sun and feel so much better. My skin is clear for the first time in 3 years and I'm bronze. I missed tanning and I'm going back to it. I do wear a sun screen when I tan but it's a low SPF. Frankly, I'm not worried about skin cancer or cancer for that matter. It is mainly and has been proven to be a genetic disease mainly and it's in my family so I'll probably get it anyway. I'm going to live it up while I'm here. I look and feel healthier with a tan and I'm sticking with it.

dear bonbon64, not only can people get skin cancer due to tanning, but people can also die because their insides can literally get cooked internally. tan skin is beautiful absolutely but so is all the other ones too. it actually depends on the region and culture views of a person and what type they perfer. i noe in asian coutnries the more pale u are the more attractive you are while in europe everyone strips off at the first signs of sunlight.!!!! however, lets just leave tanning beds to adults and if kids are desperate they can go to the beach!! take care
