How Observant are Your Family of You?

I am asking you this because on Tuesday of this week my daughter and I went and had our hair cut, I deliberately never said anything to my hubby or family just to see if they would notice. Now we both had enough cut off our hair for it to be classed as being shorter and noticable, and you know what? Not one person in my family noticed LOL The best part was that today which is now Friday, three days later, my hubby looks at my daughter and says " You could do with a trim on your hair" LOL I nearly fell off my chair laughing, when he asked why I was laughing that is when I told him we had it cut on Tuesday. I swear if I had not said anything he would not have known. Do your family notice when you have your hair done, or make a change to yourself in some way?

Men! I have to say that my other half might not notice - although if he did he would always say something nice - the kids though always notice no matter what I change - even if it is just styling my hair differently they notice and tell me it looks good! I am so lucky with my kids - well seeing they are not here right now huh? xxx

My husband is very observant and will notice these things. On the other hand, about 20 years ago I bought the blue tinted contacts, my father and all of my siblings have blue eyes, I got green eyes from Mom. Well, I go to visit Mom and Dad and after a while I asked my mother what she thought of my eye color, she goes what do you mean. I told her I had blue contacts in and now I had blue eyes - her response - all my kids have blue eyes, no one got green eyes from me. When I went from very long hair - way below the butt to short hair - way short. She did notice.

Well, I had to have surgery and about a 1/3 of the head was already shaved. It was pretty much a no-brainer. Now my hair is super short and I love it.

LOL, that is funny. I know all the colours of my kids eyes, mostly they are like mine too. That was a massive hair cut you had, I would have been in a sweat having all that lovely long hair cut off!

Gemini- thanks for sending me off into laughs. I needed a bit of humor added to my mood. Your experience demonstrates how much we think about ourselves and our perceptions - and expectations of what we want others to see. Sorry, I started to get serious again. Anyhow, I take away all chances. Before I go to have my hair done, I say "Now, when I come home, make sure you tell me how beautiful my hair looks, okay? Don't forget." I also don't take any chances with my birthday. (Well, now I hope no one notices) - but I used to tell my partner, "don't forget my birthday is coming up." That way I won't be let down. Okay, anawar out. Sorry, my son just returned from Iraq, and that's how he signed out of his emials. I guess I picked up on that.

My family notices everything. They know everything about me and notice everything. Sometimes, things I dont even notice. Although its kind of nice to see that someone is noticing you, its kind of creepy. Like, what if one day I wanted to get a tattoo and didnt want them to know about it? I think that they would find out in no time. Which I dont like very much. You cant hide anything from them! But I guess thats why theyre your family, so they can protect you.

My husband rarely notices me at all, and I think maybe it is the same for my children, I would probably have to dye my hair pink and make it stand straight up before anyone noticed anything at all.

LOL I dyed my hair bright red once and my hubby did not notice!!

OK! Hold onto your seat. When I colored my hair back to red the other week, my spouse didn't notice! No really! He didn't. I had to point it out. Now, in his favor is the fact, that I put the red color over my very dark hair. So the color is more of a cast of red over brown. I need to color red again to get the rich red I was going for. He is usually so observant about any little change with me. And very complimentary! When he doesn't say anything, I know he is under stress on the job and his head is not in the game!

LOL I had the same when I dyed my hair red, perhaps there is a problem with the eyes and they cannot see red colours?

Oh my gosh!! Has he been sleeping? What an insult to injury! Not noticing and then telling her she needs a hair cut after just having one is insult to injury of the worst kind!! My husband always notices different things that I've done to myself whether it's a new hair cut or style, different makeup (when I wear it) or even new clothes. I can't get anything past him! lol

Hi gemini! I'd have to say that my family notices every change i make. I very rarly change anything about myself, so when i do get my hair done or wear a new outfit they notice. Just the other day i decided to get my hair permed, instead of the usual roller set style i decided to get an updo, when i got home the first thing they asked is where was i going. I had to ask if i had to be going somewhere special to get my hair styled.

With peoples appearance I would say that im hyper-observant!if someone has had something done and its flattering then I love to tell them so.My mother has an odd way off showing her `noticing` ways..she looks you up and down and doesnt comment, which lol can cause mild paranoia!Hubby?well last year my hair was long, and for a complete change becuse im maturing in the wood,I decided to have it chopped off..well im laughing here, but nope..he didnt notice!so its now getting longer again, and to heck with the age thing, its my hair!!!..my daughter has said to me that its blonde!which is quite weird as its grey to me!!lol but she assures me it looks blondy...and considering that it was very dark years ago that shos how we all turn around.

Its funny how as we start getting older we feel we should change. I have long hair and I keep thinking "will I have to have it cut short in the next few years as I head towards 40". I dont want to though, my Nan says that I should have it cut short, she says it should be short and curly, yeah Nan maybe I will throw a blue rinse in for good measure!

Ha Ha Ha. That was a funny incident. My family members do not seem to notice small changes in me. hair cut and all are very common because I get one done every fortnight. Apart from that I do not really have a very sudden change in anything. But I have noticed that till now, in my 20 years of life with them, they have not understood me completely. I still feel alien at home, but hey, it doesn't really matter. bourne

I do not have mine cut all that often really and I did have a lot off, so I would have thought it would be noticed!

Hello gemini_rose, You saying that, it remined me of when I wanted my hair coloured to red, you my hair is black and one day I got fed up with it and asked my friend who is a hairdresser, to come around and dye my hair, so she got the colour and dyed my hair red, because my hair jet black the colour came out brunnete and I loved it. My husband came home that evening and never said a word, it carried on for a week and one day he said,"these something different about you today, is it a new outfit you got on? I couldn't believe it, then I told him and he could say was "Oh! men. Tamarafireheart.

That is exactly what my hubby said when I dyed my hair red a few years ago! I did it and never said a word, my hair was brown at the time, and I dyed it too red. He would keep looking at me and saying there was something different and was I wearing a new top etc!

My family does not notice if I change anything about myself. This doesn't really bother me though because I don't notice when they change them. I have gotten to the point that I don't really pay attention to their appearance at all unless there is something wrong with it (like needing their hair trimmed :D). I think its because appearance becomes kind irrelevant as we get used to people for their personality and not their appearance. I would certainly notice if one of my family members had a sudden personality shift.

It used to bother me that no one noticed, but it does not anymore. I just thought it would be fun to see how long it took! I always notice when someone does something to themselves.

Hi gemini, really? wow! Maybe he was not really paying attention at the hair and not much changes for him! I have a cousin before, 5 years old and every time she has a new haircut, she is announcing it to the entire clan..LOL! My husband, parents and sister can tell right away if there will be changed in me..LOL! I remember one time, I had it cut so short and all of them noticed it!

Hi Gemini_rose, that is unbelievable no wonder you laughed when he said it. I like to think that I am very observant and can even pick up on their different moods whether that be fae to face or over the phone. It is very rare that I miss the signs or miss that one has had their ears pierced or hair highlighted. I may miss the odd thing because I'm preoccupied but you also have to remember I am female and we do tend to notice more whereas the rest of your household is male so probably don't notice as much. Ellie :D
@gemini_rose (16264)

Yes there are four males in my house! That is probably why, my hubby never notices, he is funny because he keeps saying " Now you have said I can see you have had your hair cut, its nice"!

they notice.. i cant even wash the grey out of my hair without it being noticed LOL but quite honestly.. i really dont care if they notice or not. i change my look so often without notice that its become customary for me to look different on a regular basis

Ya know, my wife has done the same thing. I think part of the reason is that we get so used to seeing something that when its gone, we still see it even though it's no longer there.

This is a funny topic. Yes they do notice, but I want to comment something to you I did an investigation and I found out that men generally do not notice makeup or hair color or anything you buy brand new, etc. I asked to many guys why is that? What do you look? The answer was this by the majority, I look all and if it is beautiful it is ok for me. My husband is an architect and he needs to notice things of course so that is why he notices it.

They are too busy to notice my haircut however my dad notices when I get fat and doesn't notice when I have already worked out. People seem to notice more my bad than the good side.

I am with you on that one, my dad is always quick to point out if I put weight on, although for the first time ever last year he actually worried because I lost too much weight so that was nice.
