I came across the following article today and it just reenforced my belief in the fact that Barack Obama is not only a communist but a socialistic communist! Although this takes place in 2007 it is still relevant today! I do not want someone else deciding if I make more money than I ought to and then MAKE me give it away! Here is the article: http://www.extremeink.com/awtk/2007/11/barack-obama-explains-socialism.html

This is how liberals think... yet they get real agitated and defensive over the word communism... which is what their political agenda is all about. It doesn't matter if they use socialist or progressive or any of the other code words... it all means the same thing... government control over our businesses and our daily live and the forced redistribution of wealth. Most every social program has this goal, whether it is Universal Health Care, or some spending plan such as that Global Anti Bill that Obama sponsored. Every tax increase and anything that is aimed at taking money from your pocket to benefit someone else for ANY reason is part of this. Maxine Waters messed up big time and actually threatened to Nationalize oil production during those hearings recently, which brought the communist aspirations of the liberals right out in the open in front of everyone who saw the video. The liberals are all communists, and I don't care whether they are Marxists, Stalinists or who it is they admire, because it all amounts to the same thing... making us all slaves to the government, to be dictated to like good proletariats.

The only real difference between communism and socialism is one is voted for and the other is done by force. However that does not mean that eventually the one voted for a little at a time will not resort to force to maintain it's power. A difference that makes no difference IS no difference.

The US is more socialist than what most people care to admit, and it will only continue in that direction. No, that doesn't make us communist, as that's a totally different philosophy! If you don't believe me that we're heading in that direction, democrats AND republicans alike, ask yourself these questions: * Do you feel bad for children who don't have proper school supplies? * Did you feel bad for the Katrina victims? * Do you feel we should be doing more to help people displaced by layoffs and business closings? * Do you think we should be helping young adults get a (better?/more affordable?) college education?

Thanks for posting this link. The author makes a great case against socialism and Obama's position in terms even a 5 year old can understand. Obama is making simple platitude type arguements using 'feel good' logic that absolutely do not stand up under scrutiny by a thinking person. The article at the link puts one of these simple platitude arguements with its 'feel good' logic under scrutiny. I recommend it.

Of course it's feel good logic ("platitudes"). But isn't that what being a politician is all about? John McCain does the same thing because none of us want to hear the truth! We want a president who's going to be the cheerleader for our country, not the one telling it the way it is. Even though I'm far from being a Bush fan, I have to admit that I felt sorry for the ribbing the guy took about his insisting that our economy is fine, that we're just in a slight "down turn". Many took pockshots at him for not admitting the "truth", but I maintain that as president he had to say that less risk the economy really falling to pieces. After all, it's one thing for us to "know" that something is wrong; it's another for someone in a leadership position to confirm it.

I too do not want someone else deciding if I make more money than I ought to. I remember one of those annoying Obamites telling me that a family making 60,000 dollars a year does not deserve a tax cut, and deserves to pay more in taxes. Well thank God we have such self-righteous people here on MyLot who run around telling people who deserve their money and who does not. You know what we do have alot of self-righteous people here on MyLot and they are all on the Obama side, but why would that surpise anyone. Obama is the king of self-righteousness.

It's always bothered me when politicians draw a line in the sand and tax progressively. You used $60K as an example. In NYC, that isn't diddly; in the midwest it's okay, but (and I'm making an assumption here), in certain places in the south it's a very good income. How is a progressive tax fair to people living in areas with higher standards of living? Wouldn't a flat tax be the fairest way to go?

My first thought is is he giving a slice of his money pie away? I wonder if he would give me a slice if he knew I could really use it?

That's not so much an "article" as an opinion piece. Do you have a link to the article that covers that speech?

Soooobored,I would provide you with at least a half dozen links but as these links get terribly long and I haven't reached the ludicrous "500" mark on MyLot I will not be going there. I will give you a direction in which to go though; go to Yahoo and type Obama and Hadassah Jones and you will come with as many news articles as you desire to read.

I come here for discussion, which means I want to hear opposing viewpoints and understand where you are coming from. Research I've done independently leads me to my conclusions, that's the only reason I ask from which article you are drawing yours. If anyone has an actual article about this, please reply with link. Even if you're not at 500 you can type it in as text, and it comes through as an active link. Thanks!

Socialism and communism are two very different economic concepts. Under a communist economic system, everyone works for the government (since the government owns all), and everyone gets paid by the government: From each according to ability, to each according to need. Socialism is comprised of high tax rates, such as what they have in Europe (Germany, France, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, UK, etc.) People in these countries pay upwards of 50% of their income in tax, but receive many, many benefits in return (free health care, free education through college, free day care, elder care, unemployment, etc). The main difference between socialism and communism is that in socialism, everyone still has the opportunity to choose their own destiny, to become rich beyond their dreams through hard work. Nationalizing companies doesn't equate to communism, because, as you know, the US is far from being communist but yet the government "owns" many business sectors (education being one). Yes, democrats believe in social programs that offer "handouts" to people; but republicans offer "business incentives" all the time. IMHO, same concept, just a different group of people getting government money.

I'm going to be laughing so hard when your country is taken over by Barak Obama. The red-neck republicans won't know what to do, and even some of the democrats won't know what's hit them. How many of them say 'I'm not racist, but...' Yeah right you're not!! I can't understand why you don't want a president who is as unlike George W. as possible!!! Ha Ha!! The U. S. of A. is a basket case because of the Republicans' crazy bloodlust for war!

Polgeram, The problem with what you say is that while the republicans give incentives to big business those incentives put people to WORK! The handouts that the democrats give to the "poor" only exacerbate an already vicious circle of poverty! It does exactly what it is intended to do and that is to make these people dependant on the democrats and therefore indebted to them! Give me straight capitalism any day and every day! People who are rewarded for their hard work will always go the extra mile to succeed!

jakesmum...very inciteful! Your reasons define perfectly why I cannot and will not vote republican this time around, regardless of the republican candidate. Obama may have many perceived shortcomings, but nothing compares to the GW rock hanging around McCain's neck.
