Self check out

I went to the grocery store yesterday and I had noticed that there were either 3 or 4 self check outs. Do you think one day in the future there will be only self check outs? It's kind of scary to think about. If they did that would put a lot of cashiers out of work. Would you want that to happen and why?

I like the self check outs. One, it's easier. And two, you don't have to worry about people at the register taking their time and giving you an attitude. The only downside is that it would absolutely cause a major decline in cashiers over time. But it's still nice to know that you can move along with out any extra drama.

I don't think this will happen. self check out is only good if you have purchased only few things but if there are a lot? oH!! I'm sure the customers will be having a hard time punching every item they have. We still need cashiers to help us out. I don't like to do everything when purchased something.

The Walmart closest to me used to have self checkouts but they took them out. I loved them I liked checking my own stuff out and bagging it the way I want it. I wish they had them back I don't know why they took them out. I seem to always get in a line with a cashier so slow it takes them 20 mintues to scan 10 items that is whey I like the self checkouts. I don't want to see people lose jobs over it though.

U know in my local wal mart there are like 4 of those self check outs. I have thought the same thing. I wouldn't want it to happen. we let computers do enough as it is.

Not especially. It's bad enough that we have "bag your own". There are times that I don't want to bag my own. I have enough trouble watching the checker and watching the prices to make sure I have enough money and I don't overspend. I'm not sure I want to self check. Although, it might makes things easier, but them we have to bag our self too. I'll be in the store all day!!!

I think all stores will eventually have a few self checkouts (and they should), but we're always going to need human cashiers for when something goes wrong with the self-checkouts! Nearly every time I use one there's ONE item that just won't scan and I have to push the "Help" button. Also, I prefer going to a person when I have a lot of items. It bothers me at a self-checkout when somebody is in line behind me, it makes me feel guilty and like I have to rush.

I don't think it would happen. Yes it would put alot of people out of work. It would be hard for some people to grasp the idea from what I've seen in a store near me. Some people find it confusing , especially seniors and mentally slower people. I like using them, I get out of the store faster. I've noticed people with small children wind up fighting because the child wants to ring the things up too.
