When Expectations become topsy-turvy..

When this happens to us in the real life.. sometimes we rejoice and at many times we sink in despair..depending upon the scenario.
This happens to me here while mylotting also. There are lot of occasions when i start some discussions thinking that it will interest my friends here.. after making a careful preparations in the subject to be discussed i may post some topics, expecting it to get more responses,.. and even going one step ahead and imagining that it will hit todays top discussions. But LMAO.. it will seldom get a response.. or may be one or two.
Okay,.. reconciled to this.. two days back.. i just posted a topic.. " Are you really worried about your height"? with no real expectations..
My goodness.. it has found a place in Mylot digest and has evoked 76 responses..LOL.. (the highest number i got since i joined mylot ..haha)
You expect.. you won't get, you just have no expectations.. you will be getting ample responses"
Have you ever experienced this type of atmosphere here?

Hi saivenkaat802003! When I first joined here in mylot, I do get excited when I post my discussion and will always be checking how many have responded to my discussion. I have high expectations with the discussions I made and I will be very ecstatic whenever the numbers of responses grew and when I only have one response or two and it takes some time before it reached 5 responses, I felt so sad thinking that I am being ignored here. However, as time has passed and I am a member here for more than a year now, I have been more content in responding and participating in others' discussions not because I am lazy to start one but because I have enjoyed immensely the discussions of other people here as well. I have learned a lot, I have been entertained and I have smiles always in my heart. and whenever I happen to make a discussion of my own, I am content that my few reliable friends will see it and took some time and effort to respond to it and that will already make my day. I will be very happy too when some mylotters who are not in my friends' list will join. However, I am not expecting so much anymore as I used to.

It is surprising the sorts of discussions that get the crazy amounts of responses, I did one at one time that had over a hundred responses and it was so unexpected that I just could not keep up with it all!!

And more clear in my memory.. i am the 200th person to leave comment..as " let him wet his pants, but not at my door steps" haha..

yeah. i've seen that discussion of yours in the myLot digest i received before. good job! 
when i start a discussion i don't really expect it to appear in today's top discussion or in the myLot digest or in anything. i might expect it to gather a lot of responses but not that a lot. i don't expect because its hard to be disappointed. and so that there will still be a room for surprise if my discussion gathered responses more than i expected. its already alright for me if i can start a discussion that some people would be able to relate to.

I have observed that simple discussions get plenty of responses. I dunno how, but I guess people sign in to Mylot to relax and they don't really want to break their heads over serious discussions. Mylot is basically for fun, and people enjoy light stuff such as "How do you cook eggs?" or "Is your hand itching today?" Things like that....:)

That is great. I really have not tried to keep track of the discussion responses that I have gotten here at Mylot. I never did go back and look to see how many each discussion got. I did start looking at the a little bit closer when Mylot added the Mylot Digest though. I have had a couple of mine there. I was pretty excited about that too.
