So I've been hearing about this new series of books, the Twilight saga, by author Stephanie Meyers. Titles include Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking down. Not only that but I have been walking by them for some time now every time I take my kids to the bookstore and thought the covers were really catchy (yup, will judge a book by its cover). Since it was so popular I just said, ok, I can just wait it out for a little while and then I'll reserve it at my local library. Finally went to do it, yesterday. I couldn't think of the title right off the top of my head when I got there and go to describe the books and immediately she new who I was talking about and she was older than me (by 10 or 15 years). So after doing a search big disappointment because there was a waiting list of 50 people! Fifty people, that means each person gets three weeks and can renew the book for three more weeks up to 3 times! Im 26 and just wondering if its worth the effort because maybe I wont relate as much to the book. Is there any adult alternatives to Stephenie Meyers books? Are you an adult and disappointed with her books? I am a fan of Whitley Streiber books and almost immediately they grab my attention and I expect this with her books. I ended leaving the library with scott westerfelds "The Midnighters"

I am 35 and I love her books. My favorite author, before I discovered her, used to be Dean Koontz. Don't get me wrong...I still love his writing but, Stephenie Meyer makes me feel for her characters in a way that is deeper than I can even begin to explain. So, just buy them. You won't regret it. One of the ones you mentioned, Breaking Dawn (not Breaking Down) is not out yet. It will be out in August. And, there is another "adult" alternative. It is The Host. So, you might check that one out too. But, the Twilight series is phenomenal. There is so much buzz because she is truly gifted at making you fall in love with her characters. It is so popular that they have turned the first book in the series "Twilight" into a movie that will be out December 12th. I can not wait for that movie! So, forget waiting for the library, just buy the books! They will be a wonderful addition to your collection and you won't be disappointed. I read the entire series, minus the one that isn't out yet, in under 2 weeks. In fact, I am not even sure it took me that much more than a week to read them all. She is so captivating!

Thats so interesting that you two both like Dean Kootz, no i haven't read any of his but I like Robin Cook books, I like when people recommend things to me because I get so distracted when at the library, especially when the all new books are right when you walk in.

awesome! I can get them from target, how much did you pay for yours? You two really sound dazzled by it so thats plenty for me to give it another chance and just get my name on that list and if the price is right, just buy it from target! Its been so long since Ive been able to get into any fiction because Im really into nonfiction--i can just pick my topic and its like instant gratification.

I am 28 years old, I finally bought the first one, twilight, last week. I started and finished it in 2 days, went and bought the last 3 books. I love them all. I read paranormal books anyway. But I was hesitant to read any young adult books. but reading those has opened my eyes up to a load of YA paranormal books that I cant wait to read next. I have ordered 7 from Amazon that I will read as soon as they get in. These books, the twilight books are worth what I paid.

Man I have not even gotten around to reading it but Im happy for your comments on the book and its revived my excitement, my problem now is that I am reading newspapers, magazines and the web to keep up on politics (I have kids now so its no as easy to shrug off anymore) but that gets utterly exhausting and for those much needed breaks I think according your answer, a few chapters of Stephenie Meyers might just do the trick.

Ask through friends and ask if anyone owns the book. Its a very very opular book and I know of alot of people who have it. And I think all ages like the book. I loved it (Im 18) and I lent it to my english teacher who also loved it to. So I think its worth waiting for. First of all you CAN put your name on the waiting list but by the time you get to ready the first one..the brand new one will already be released. If you go to the book store its only about 10 dollars for the first book, so if you have the funds you my as well just purchase the books, youll get alot of use out of it since your kids will be able to read it and even friends if they're intersted when you are done.

Hello there!! I am a library assistant and i must say that you are so so very right. This authors books are a big hit here at the library that i work at. Especially this summer among the teens and the adults. Although i havent read any of her books before, i believe from the many people that have come here to the library that she must be an awesome author to get to know. Its like when a patron comes into the library and they have finished one book in the series, they cant wait until the next to arrive. They hurridely put in there request. Although here you can only have materials for 2 weeks, with 2 renewals. But you can only get the renewals if the books are not on hold for another patron. I hope that you finally get the book and have a chance to read. I hope that its a good one. Good Luck!

Thats so cool that you work in a library, you know I would love working at one but I always felt that would be weird since I already spend so much time frequenting them, we have 6 in my local area and all are remodeled or brand new and the oldest one they just torn down now and building it so much bigger--yes. I just feel like they would get tired of seeing me if Im there when Im not working which sucks, Im plotting it out and going to try to get application into the newest one since I do know who is director of them.

I haven't read it yet, but I know those are really popular books. Just the other day, my brother's girlfriend let me borrow hers. I have 'Twilight' and she said I can borrow the rest of the series that she has when I'm finished. I am in the middle of another book, so I haven't started it yet, but she swears they're really good. Maybe you have a friend or someone that would let you borrow their copy? Or you can just put yourself on the waiting list and if you end up getting it before that some other way, then you can just remove yourself from the library list. I knew the books were popular, but once they announced the movie is coming out I think they got even more popular. I really love Dean Koontz books, which you've probably already read some of his stuff, but if not you might like some of his and possibly check one out next time you're at the library.

I've read the books and they are pretty good. My favorite book series is Harry Potter and I don't think anything will ever beat that series for me. The Twilight series is a good one. I'm into the whole supernatural thing, so the vampire story is gripping and the changes Meyers makes to the sterotypical vampire are pretty interesting. You really get into the characters. Meyers' writing kind of left me hanging sometimes and she can be a bit repetitive in telling the story and her description of the "beautiful" vampires.

You bring up something interesting, do her vampires compare in any way to Anne Rice's vampires?

I loved them. I only started reading them about a month ago, then re-read them before Breaking Dawn was realeased, although I had just read them. I'm nearly 30. and I have more than a teensy weensy crush on Edward Cullen. hehe.

I think you should take it out if you really want to read it. I searched online in the library so that I could put it on hold but I couldn't find it. All I could find was the CD of the book and I don't really want that. But I'm going to try again. There have been books that I have put on hold that have more than 50 people waiting for it and I did wait because i really wanted to read the book. Good luck with getting the book I hope that I could get it because I want to read it.

Im a very fickle reader, I have moods and that influences greatly what Im up for reading so if Im in the mood for politics when the book finally comes in, chances are I will not get around to reading it, thats my problem, Im in the mood for it now, I will consider buying after browsing through it at the book store, but at Borders, i get 20% off coupons

Oh yeah I get that way too sometimes. There are times when I get a book from the library and when I am going to start reading it I don't feel like reading it anymore. So I just leave it there and start reading another book. But I go back to it when I'm in the mood to read it.
