So... Today my Shoulder feels Good....

Ok, so I have rested all week, after being told I may have a sprained rotator cuff. And today my shoulder is not hurting, as long as I don't try to reach out and pick anything up, etc. So I go back to the doctor on Tuesday and he will probably find that it's getting better. However, I know that as soon as I start working and using it regularly again, the same pain will come back. I've had pain there for a couple years, just not quite as bad as it was this time when it was so bad I wanted to die. I really wanted to find out what the heck is wrong with it, that I can't use it the way normal people do. If the doctor says I'm better and I go back to being normal...cleaning, weed wacking, raking, etc. And if the pain comes back as bad as it was last week.... I will kill myself!!!! The insurance company won't have to worry a thing about telling me they won't pay for an MRI. They won't even have to pay for Physical Therapy again.... I'll be gone! Don't worry. I won't really kill myself. But I'll want to!

Had you ever been to the doctor with it before now? I know several people who have had to have surgery on their rotator cuff. My husband's nephew got his hurt many years ago and had to have surgery and they messed up his shoulder and he was given disability. He can't raise his arm now very high. Others, though, have had surgery and done very well. Hopefully, yours will continue to get better with rest and you won't have to have surgery. Sure wouldn't want you to do something bad.

This is the first time I went to the doctor for it. All the other times I assumed it was something I was doing wrong, and if I changed things it would get better. I would slow down for awhile and let it rest and it would feel better and then start all over again. This is the first time it kept getting worse until I couldn't stand it.

Mom, give me your phone number so I can call your house and make sure you put me on speaker so everyone can hear me. You need to have help around the house, I'm usually a nice guy but when somebody needs help and butts are just warming the seats I get a little testy. I don't mean to pull any punches but make a list of what needs to be done and have your "helpers" get busy.

Lol, it's funny you mentioned that. I already made a list. I listed everything there IS to do around here, inside and out. I highlighted in 'yellow' the things I can do myself (or 'prefer' to do myself, like loading the dishwasher- I like that done a certain way, and folding the clothes needs to be done my way...) Then I highlighted in 'orange' the things I will do 'part' of, but need help with. And last I highlighted in 'pink' the things I want my son to do himself. (My oldest son moved in with his dad recently, so I just have the 14 year old at home) Well, he is still getting over the shock of how many things he needs to do. He cannot believe I'm asking him to do that many things. I had to say "Excuse me....but you see this long list? I HAD been doing this all MYSELF until now." He'll get over it. I am NOT weed wacking EVER again. I love to do it, but I cannot stop myself when I start. And I can see my shoulder can't take it, as fun at is it. Believe it or not, I love raking leaves too, but that hurts me too. It's kind of a control problem. I love it to be done 'my way'. I came up with a system that works well, and no one else seems to ever get the hang of it, and it drives me crazy....crazy enough to pick up the rake and do it myself. Well, anyway, he's slowly starting to help. Thanks for your 'advice'. Funny too, my oldest son just dropped in as I was typing this. So I asked him if he could fit helping me into his weekly schedule. He's the one that never complains...always says "Sure" but then doesn't have the time. So, knowing that he would leave and forget about me, I actually said "So you won't mind if I call you every time I need your help?" Lol. That's just gonna be the way it has to be. I told him I cannot do any kind of back and forth side to side work. (weed wacking, hedge cutting, too much raking) Man, I love doing those things. Seriously. Maybe if I hated it, I wouldn't do it so good and hurt myself. Lol. Ok, I think I've reached the 'blabbing' limit. I'm done now.

My husband had a problem a while back called adhesive capsulitis--commonly called "frozen shoulder" and had quite a bit of pain for quite a while. He says it still bothers him sometimes, but he did the exercises he was given. You might do a search on that and see if symptoms sound familiar, then ask your doctor about it.Many many things cause us even more pain if we do not make sure to get sufficient sleep, so make sure you do that, along with all the other things you are doing. Have you gotten enough better that you can sleep in bed yet?

Oh! oh! yes! I should have mentioned that. I have been sleeping in my bed the past 3 nights. I'm not totally comfortable, but I'm so glad to be in my bed. I made an appointment with my chiropractor for Monday because my whole body feels all messed up from sleeping on the recliner for that long.
