I always ask my husband to accompany me on any trips, but he nearly always declines. This suits me fine if I'm going to see my family, which is a trip of 500 miles each way. I've made this many times by myself, so I just put in an audio book and listen while I drive.

Since I travel every week it would be fiscally impossible to do so. He works and must earn a living to be financially independent of me. I work and must be earn a living to be financially independent of him. I am the primary bread earner and thus have the greater responsibility. My business requires me to travel both domestically and at times abroad, so it would be financially irresponsible for us to travel together all the time.
We try to take vacations together, but even that doesn't always work out. This year he went home for a week to visit his family without me. He hadn't been home for 2 years and I simply couldn't take the time away from a client.
I sometimes will take a weekend to visit friends or family without him if he is busy.
Preference? We would of course love to always be able to spend the time together, just sometimes it isn't always possible.
