I don't usually brag, but I won...

I usually don't brag about anything, but this time I am so thrilled! I entered some of my craft items in our local fair and I was shocked when I went to see how I did. I took three second place ribbons and a Judge's Award. According to one of the people that work at the fair, the Judge's Award is the second highest award in the competitions. It was a jointed Mohair dog that won the award...I almost got thrown out of Wal Mart when I took him in to find a collar for him just before the fair. The associate thought that the dog was real!!!! :-)
My three items were:
Mohair dog, 2nd place and the Judges Award
Crocheted Cat, 2nd place
Mohair teddy bear, dressed, 2nd place.
I had to post this and enjoy the thrill of the award. I am hoping to take the Best of Show award next year (that's the top award for all the different sections of the fair).
Thanks for sharing my joy!

I developed this strange collectors addiction. I don't care about the money from the win, it's the ribbons! I have two 14 by 16 inch frames with my ribbons in them, and I am getting the judges award matted and framed with pictures of the dog in it with the ribbon.
The other thing I discovered is that it is encouragement to continue to improve at the art that you do. (Plus it's one heck of a warm fuzzy when people realize that you do good work and acknowledge it in such a tangible way.)
Congratulations on your blue ribbon, your work must have been beautiful!

Congratulations on your awards!!! I used to do ceramics and then enter my work into local competitions. I won a few. The one piece that I was most proud of was an eagle. I got it when the clay was wet and raised each feather. Then I dried it and kilned it. Then I did a technique called dry brushing. I mounted it on top of a music box that was painted with a different technique. It was beautiful. Lots of work put into it.
About two weeks after winning an award on it, It got dropped...........on carpet but it damaged some of the feathers. Broke my heart.
I so hope you never experience anything like this. Keep up the good work. Keep competing. Let us know when you take the top prize.

Thank you for the congrats! I will be posting a picture of the winning dog later this week. I didn't get a chance to take pictures before I turned him in for judging. I like taking pictures of the stuff I make in position where the fair workers placed them.
What's funny is that I set my sights on winning one of the big "honkin" ribbons and I got one! I will admit that I like this ribbon better than the best of show ribbons. The one I get is red and blue while the best of show is just pink (it's boring in my opinion).

Thank you! I will be posting pictures either tomorrow night or Saturday morning. (with luck, I came down with some virus and have spent the past two days sleeping my life away. I never take naps, but all I have had the energy to do is sleep. This is the first night that I have been on the computer...so I am getting better.)
