How do you choose the best response from among your responses?

I was just seeing my unresolved discussions piling up and decided to mark some best answers. But, I couldn't. In some discussions, I just read the discussions and knew, which were the best ones. But for most of them, especially the question-types I could not possibly decide one. Those were all unique, giving me suggestions and all were very practical and helpful. How do I decide the best from among them. It surely is not possible. What do you'll do when in such a situation? How do you mark the best response, if confused or not sure?

hi rajeshfgh, that shouldn't bother you. choosing the best response is completely subjective. you have a full authority to do that. normally i will choose amongst them which is best in my opinion. just use your common sense, feeling and intuition

Thanks for the suggestion, but sometimes I just can't make a choice. I guess, then my mind starts wandering to different aspects like the length of the extract, writing style, etc. which is not right according to me.

I face the dilemna too many times. I resolve it by hitting any of the 2-3 responses I like the most at random. So if replies 2,6 and 11 are really ggood, I just choose a number at random among the three and choose it. Sometimes I choose the first reply I really liked or found useful!

Hey, you go by the 'ini mini minie mo' principle. That's cool if you're not sure on the short-listed 2 or 3 responses. I'll try to use the same in future. Thanks for the update. :)

I usually just pick the first one that came in. If they all are really good responses and it is hard to choose then I will just give best response to the first one that gave me a really good response. You're right there are some that you just know right away which the best response it and then there are some that are all very good.

yeah, you're right. Sometimes it drives me crazy to choose the best among the lot as all the answers seem logical and up to the mark. Choosing one is very very difficult.

Sometimes If im not sure who to mark in that situation i mark the first/second response or even check to see the number of posts a person has and mark the lowest number of posts as the best response...hoping to keep them posting. Generally I try to be fair about it and pick the person who made the most sense or even the most effort.

Hey, that's a very unique way to mark the best response. It kinda motivates the new users to keep posting. I thing though, Mylot should give an alert when we receive the best response for our responses. The other day, I checked my best response and found a couple of them but only after 4 days. They should atlest give an alert, what say?

You should mark the answer with best response only to that which is very relevant to the question and give you the answer you wanted. In case you can't decide, then mark the answer the best one which gives you other additional information, relevant to the topic, that's the best way. Now you won't be getting confused in marking the best answer I hope. Do reply , if you found this usefull!!

Hey, that's a good suggestion. I'll try to put it to use. But still, if the answer is a yes/no sort of answer, then it becomes very difficult to decide the best answer.

Yeah, sort of a tedious job to read all and remember which was how significant. But that's the rule of the game, lol. Thanks for your suggestion. Bye :)

I have lots of unresoved discussions ,i don't know how to deal with,as you said every response is helpful for myself,if i make a best response, other peoples' s response will not get it,i think it's unfair, sometimes i want to make the best response to all responses,but...that's impossible.

Yeah, we have just one vote. It's a troublesome situation , you can't ignore it otherwise you're unresolved discussions will keep on piling! I think, you just got to vote it and forget it. Remembering it again would hurt our conscience, what say?

I always experience that. And it is really hard to decide which one would you choose. But I have also other considerations in choosing a best response other than the ones you mentioned - unique answer, helpful advice, great suggestion, etcetera. When I face that kind of situation, I look for their ratings. If the other one has a low rating, then I will give him the best response. In that way, I help him to increase his reputation level. After all, myLot is a community to help one another and I am happy about it. If they have the same star rating, then I will check their profile if how many Best Response they got so far. Then I will give my BR to the one with less number of it. I believe in equality that the ones who have more should give to the less. Cheers!

I am a little confused here Does giving a person 'best response' increase his rating or his earnings? I am not sure, but was under the impression that ratings are only dependent on the +ve rating button and nothing else. Correct me readers if I am wrong. Nonetheless, you're a great person to believe in the principle of equality. Cheers!

I try to select my best response from the poster who very clearly read my topic, and responded appropriately. If there is more than one, and nothing stands out, I will select the first.

Even I try to do the same in case of a tie but I feel guilty and can not make a firm decision. It is kind of selecting one child for a mother (not literally though) I sometimes even go for the length of the response, which again is not right, but you have just one vote!

Sometimes it is hard to decide on which response is the best to mark as best answer. However, I think that I just go with the reply that I find to be the most suitable to my question. There are sometimes a couple of responses that seem to be alike and I have to choose which one I like better. Not always easy. But I just go with my heart and move from there. I really do appreciate the answers that I receive nonetheless.

Yes, that seems to be the solution in case of a tie. But, somewhere in my conscience I begin to think that what I have marked is right. I guess, there's no other alternative, you have to sacrifice one, even if it's on the same level. :)
