career medical assistant school

In my area, medical assistants aren't in demand anymore because the market was saturated a few years ago when there was a great need. The better bet (if you are looking to pursue a career in healthcare) might be to become a CNA, which is less expensive and a shorter training course. In MY area its easier to find work as a CNA, and because there are more positions, the employers are more competitive when hiring CNAs. The salary is lower than for a medical assistant, but most medical asst jobs will not offer tuition reimbursement if you want to continue onto your LPN or even RN. And I would probably recommend NOT doing an online training, you may earn the certificate, but because medical assistants work so hands on, a lot of employers would shy away from someone who hasn't worked on people or even mannequins. honestly where i live in houston, texas medical assistants arent in high demand and if they are they barely pay $8 even at a hospital. i went and got my medical assitants certificate but i wish i would have spent the time that i spent going to school for something else.
