Is the Macbook Air really worth it?

Just so you know what am talking about - As you can see by the picture, the macbook air is extremely thin, sort of like an anorexic powerbook G4. Even when closed, its just as thick as a magazine. Apple has outdone themselves this time, but unfortunately looks don't tell you the whole story behind the macbook air.

Go to apples website and the first thing you'll see is the apple macbook air, gently placed inside a manilla envelope to demonstrate its compactness. I only heard about the macbook air about a month ago and was amazed. I was fascinated by its slimness and beautiful "typical mac" design. After checking on the technical specs and reviews i was beginning to think otherwise. Because of its general size, the macbook air needs alot of external hardware to make it function like any normal laptops would. With it's already high price tag, it seems many people would be more inclined to buying something else rather than a slim downed version of the existing powerbook. What do you think, is it worth putting an investment on this product or just buying a cheaper equivalent (minus the physical specs of course)?..

If you are a serious designer and designing as your profession you can go for it. Mac book (air) is waste of investment not worth of.

Yea i agree, macs are designed for designers and other professionals, but i prefer windows because they're easier to use.

its a good laptop they just to that to catch you into buying it... its like "hey look theres a laptop in side a manilla envelope lets go buy one" that doesnt work for me i got a dell and it is a very good laptop now i suggest that if you have a laptop dont buy it unless u need to like if your current laptop is broke then duh buy it.. i suggest to buy a dell if you need one and look if you make a opps a drop the macbbok air there goes your investment. so my opinion get a dell save the money for a router and a cookie ^_^

Macbook is simply overpriced. I would rather get another laptop which is cheaper and even faster.

I am a huge fan of the Apple computer. I have three now. But! The Macbook air is just odd to me. The graphics stink for gamers; although it's way better than any PC you could get at that price. I just don't think it's a good buy.

I don't think I could reliably say any Mac is worth it, given the pricetag. If I'd more money than sense and wanted to look cool and pretentious in coffee bars, it'd be a good investment. Sadly, I'm not at that level of disposable income.

if u really want a very portable laptop and the lightest mac air is the best. else go for something else like hp or fujitsu. most of the accessories that it uses is external and if we frequently use those accessories we will have to carry them. so better get another one.
