A day to clean up the yard

I figured I'd let my friends know, if I'm not around much today it's because MIL has declared this weekend to be a "clean up the yard" weekend and everyone has to participate. Lucky for me
s/o is at work and won't be home til late tonight, and stepson and girlfriend both have to work today too.
I am not impressed at all. It rained hard this morning so everything is wet and I'm the one that single handedly cleaned up their construction debris just a few weeks ago so the boys could have their play yard back...two rooms worth of old flooring, paneling, and scaps wood from the new walls and floor that they just dumped in the side yard and forgot about.
Anyway...How often do you have clean up the yard days? Is it a mostly voluntary affair or is everyone required to help? Just how messy does your yard get anyway?

Yard clean up happens on an as needed basis around here. I do not set specific days when it has to be done. Our yard does not get really messy. Yard cleanup around here is normally just picking up sticks and stuff out of the yard so that we can mow without mowing over all those sticks that are constantly falling out of the trees. The kids bring their stuff inside when they are done playing with it or the dogs will chew it up.

We are way beyond picking up sticks and stuff lol! It's hard to explain, the driveway cuts through the yard and in between the two sheds/garages so everything just over flows out into the yard and needs to get stuffed back in place from time to time.

Oh...and our dog is weird. If we leave shoes on the porch to dry, we'll never see them again (or at least not for a few weeks) but she leaves the boys' play yard alone. She hasn't stolen a single toy from there.

Nope not tired. I had no reason to be tired. You sound like you did a lot of work though.

My yard is awful, and it is just hubby and I. He is a slob about his automotive things, and also does not feel any real pressure to get the mowing and trimming done. I work two part time jobs, he has been unemployed, so why is it not done. He will be back in here any minute to read over my shoulder, as he is getting ready to go to work. I will end up saying this to his face.

Hi foxyfire,
We don't have a messy yard here..I clean 2-3 times a week and having a garden also makes me go out often and clean often there..
It's my exercise way since I have no job so, most of the time, I am doing it when hubby is working!

We have the kids help clean up the yard. We get alot of trash blown in our yard from the wind because we live a block down the street from McDonalds my son helped mow the lawn the other day he did half and I did half it was nice. It is suppose to be over 100 today so will be to hot to do anything outside.

Today turned out to be a good day weather wise here. It was warm with a breeze. We ended up not doing any of the work though...she changed her mind. I can't imagine living a block from a McDonald's! Our closest one is 17 miles away.

My yard is small as I live in a mobil home park. I like to water the flowers every nigh and keep it night. I love to do this. I just love my flowers. I usually cut the grass once a week and try to get my son to help if he is around. He has no problem doing it if he is around, that is not too often though. His social life and work etc. I would make it his job to do all the time but I do enjoy doing it. Other than that thers is not much clean up to do.
