So, myLotters, what was your first job that's not on the internet? Was your first job boring or fun? Did it give lucrative earnings? Why did you eventually move on to a different job? Just curious here.

My first job was probably one of the worst in my entire career. I just finished high school, and was waiting for my results (if I qualify for uni), and applied for a job as lab assistant (I was a Science student). I got the job, and it was at an estate, and my responsibilities included testing palm oils and cocoa kernels (not so bad) and effluence (waste of rubber processing) - yukks! The lab itself was small, but we have dealings with the estate people - so there were lots of gossips, back-stabbing, drama & it was really a bad training ground for a young person! I quitted after 2 months and went to college! Hehe!

Eek, that does sound horrible! Gossip and office drama is always the worst. It's just high school all over again, the way I see it. But hey, at least you left them in time!

My first job was working as a tutor for underpriviledged city youth, mostly in math but some reading. It wasn't great paying, but it was nice helping people less fortunate, and did pay decently. It was fun most of the time, but sometimes it was impossible to get these kids to focus. It was over the summer, and they just did not want to be there. I had to get a different job when summer ended, as the job ended with summer, and I started school again. What did you do?

hey,i'd like to share my experience with u. i am now a sophomore and i am a tutor, when i was a freshman,i want to earn money on my own .as my major is english and i am a chinese ,so i teach primary school student english, teach them how to pronuce correctly ,how to spell and how to recite the spelling ,and it is difficult for many chinese students to learn english, coz we don't have a english speaking environment.and i get 20 RMB per hour, although it is not a fat salary, but i am satisfied.and i will keep teaching those lovely children.
