Love is an emotion you feel towards others...affection is how you show that love. Whether it be kissing, holding hands, cuddling. It's lovely when you find someone who is capable of doing both. Loving and being affectionate. But there are people in this world who can't do both. They can love but being affectionate is beyond them. Some go their whole lives with never even saying I love you. My father was one of these.

I guess that love and affection can be different. Affection is " affection is a process of social interaction between two or more organisms." Most people associate affection with the emotion of love, not sensual but practical love. I found this definition and an interesting article at http://www.biopsychology.org/biopsychology/papers/what_is_affection.html

affection is the act of showing how you feel about a person. It's more of a way to express oneself towards another. Love, on the other hand, is when we give a part of ourselves for another person. We sacrifice a percentage in lots of things such as time, space, and family. And most of all, not expecting anything in return.

I don find any big difference between love and affection. When you are in love with someone then you will be affectionate to them. Affection will be there if you love someone. Those are inseparable.

Love and affection is one and the same and always go together without any difference.
