We had to improvise over the fire!!

This past weekend we went to our family reunion and it was soo much fun!! We always go up Friday night and stay until Sunday. One of the best parts is cooking hotdogs and roasting marshmallows over the fire. This year we weren't able to find our normal roasting sticks - basically they're broomsticks with hangers attached to the end. They are so easy to use and since there are usually tons of them we can all "cook" at the same time.
Well, Friday night everyone else was in bed and we couldn't find the sticks, so we had to revert to the "old school" sicks and find some good twigs/branches on the ground. That was actually a lot of fun and reminded us of when we were kids and ALWAYS had to do it that way! Saturday night we made sure we had the good sticks, but we still used the ones fron Friday night just for fun!

Oh now really brings back fond memories. Now I want to eat
somenice burnt hot marshmellows too! Oh how I loved sitting
in front of the fire trying not to burn myself and set the
whole twig on fire! You are bringing back so many find
memories. I wonder what happened to my old camping buddies.
There was a group of about 8 of us. I like your broom idea.
That sounds like it would be alot easier and faster and
safer than the twigs!

I'll have to see if I have any pictures of the real sticks that we make... It was so cool using twigs that we had to find and sharpen a bit.
You should hook up with your old buddies and plan a little trip, it'd be lots of fun I'm sure!

I have not been to an actual wiener roast in ages. Anymore everyone just grills their hot dogs. Did you know that you can get some kind of goofy s'more maker for your kitchen. You have just made me hungry for some carbon coated meat and sugar. Thanks, I will return the favor some time.

We did smore's too! My sister likes hers with Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, but I just like them the old fashioned way - Hershey bar!
OK OK, sorry about the craving thing going on there. Believe me, I ate enough for the BOTH of us!!!

I think it would be a lot of fun to look for twigs to use to cooke the hot dogs and marshmallows with! That is part of camping. Marhmallows roasted over a fire are sooo good as long as you don't burn them! Sounds like you had alot of fun.
