Is Wikipedia really that misleading? Every teacher i have ever had says do not use wikipedia, people edit it and put false info on there. It's really not that easy to put false info on there. I won't lie, I have tried it and if you put anything false on it, they just change it back to correct information. I was just wondering if anyone has ever found misleading information on wikipedia.

I don't quite know where, but I remember there being studies that showed its general accuracy on par, or sometimes better, than that of standard encyclopedic reference materials. However for the hard sciences, there are some issues with the writing, and I believe Nature had an article on this. In all reality, it is a really good resource for most things. However, its usually good to back up what you have from one source with information from another, as a general practice.

I can understand backing it up with another source but I have heard people dog Wikipedia completely and I could never understand why myself. I used to contribute regularly to Wikianswers until I ran into Mylot and I always looked up my answers with facts and even then people edited and corrected things so I think its fairly reliable and convenient and should not be dismissed completely.
