I just read someone's post about zuck bread.
It reminded me of last years breads. Don't have the zuck this year.
Last year I dumped in a 1/2 cup sunflower seeds and it was yummy.
I also made loaves with multi nuts, raisens, dates, other dried fruits.
Made some with berries( left out some liquids due to liquid of the berries).
Do you experiment when you bake and cook?

Oh, I've heard of walnuts, but never sunflower seeds. That sounds, interresting. I was just thinking of making some zuck bread yesterday because there were some beautiful zucks at the Dollar Store. However, I seem to be having an issue with my oven: all my baked goods collapse.

Hang a thermometer in your oven and check when it is supposed to be up to temperature, it sounds like it is baking too cool. I think I have heard of making a zucchini chocolate cake, has anyone tried it?

Thats what cooking is all about-experimenting. I get in the kitchen and concoct things. When someone ask what is it, I tell them its grammas surprise. Or I name the dish afer one of the grandkids, it depends on which kid whether is their favorite or not. I rarely make things the same way more then once. I put a little of this and a little of that. I rarely measure neither, I just dump. I am more careful with baking, you want to be careful with measurements if you want things to turn out.

I love zuchinni bread. I do experiment with my baing and cooking. I like to mix things up. I also come up with my own recipes too. I usually try to follow a recipe the first time I do it but then after that I start playing around with it and make it my own.

Absolutely! that is what makes a great recipe! My zukes are ready and I need to use up the leftover pumpkin cuz those are almost ready too! I am doing a TON of baking this week. I would rather do a bunch at once and freeze them. I love adding the goodies! My pumpkin bread is a recipe from the 1600's that everybody LOVES!

The kind with the nuts, raisins, dates and fruits sound good. Do you have a recipe for it? I'm thinking of making some of banana nut this year. I'd like to find some other kinds that would be good to make and freeze. I love it in the wintertime with a cup of hot cocoa.

I certainly do.
My favorite pumpkin bread has raisins, dates and walnuts in it. Not my creation, but very good,
in my opinion. I like pineapple in carrot cake, and I would have enjoyed any one of your zucchini bread variations. I really like sunflower seeds, but of course I would, it is a Kansas food!!!

I'm always experimenting or just throwing things together when I cook. I often try to make recipes healthier or to use ingredients I have on hand. I like to put pureed fruit in quick breads, cakes, cookies to replace some of the fat and sweetener that the recipe calls for. I like zucchini bread with or without raisins and other fruit, nuts, chocolate chips...I've never tried sunflower seeds in it but I love sunflower seeds.
