Massachusetts is also having a tax free weekend. Myself I think it is nothing but a con. In todays economical state they are actually making people believe they are saving money. lol ... How many plasma's were bought? How many people used credit cards? They are just adding fuel to the fire. Here in Mass clothing is not taxed. But I could save a few dollars on my sons school supplies. It is so miniscual that it wouldnt matter if I had to pay the 1.50. But I wont put myself in debt for a new plasma just because it is tax free. smh tsk tsk. I will save that money for the winter when I have to pay for oil :)

We had one a few weeks ago here in Alabama. The kids are already back in school here. Barry has several family members that are teachers locally so we always know when school is about to start or end. Blessings, Carolyn

I live in Nebraska we don't have a tax free weekend yet but are trying to get one. If the tax free weekend passes it will include school supplies and computers. It would sure be nice to not have to pay taxes on school stuff!

Hi Rosekitty Wow, no we never have anything like that here in the UK though some stores will hold one day events like Debenhams with there Blue Cross sales and they will really knock the prices right down but other than that no tax free days. Did you go? Did you manage to get any bargains? Ellie :D

Well now, that's a wonderful way to stimulate the economy! I think every state should do that but I hear of very few considering such a thing. One of our other members here was bemoaning the fact that Florida is skipping that tax free thing this year--that's false economy, in my book. Malls are packed--did that happen when people got the stimulus checks? I bet not. Tax free is a good way to stimulate the economy.

I am having a tacks free weekend Rosie. I promise not to hammer any tacks at all! We don't have tax free anything in the UK Rosie. Our wonderful Government in the would be Socialist Republic of Not So Great Britain would like to relieve us of even more money. I do believe that as yet we have no central fund for would be extinct pygmy tribes from South America. This shameful situation cannot be allowed to continue. We need a Government Department created immediately ready to deal with any would be applications from the non existent descendants of these people.
