Slowly does it. Olympians come out of their shells.

The masters of slipping out bad news when everybody's attention is elsewhere have done it again. Whilst all eyes are on China currently, there has been growing concern at home about whether the British will be able to raise sufficient capital to build the luxurious, state of the art facilities in time for the 2012 games. Particular concern is being raised over quite where and how the facilities for the "new" sports will be constructed. The London Borough Of Stratford, where the main site for the Games is being constructed has very strict diversity and inclusivity regulations. Their spokesman Jenny Imaman said that what applies to ordinary local businesses would be equally applicable in the Games complex. The new snail drome, a purpose built stretch of the M11 Motorway that is being constructed just for this new sport that was the winning suggestion of Ty Medownsport an Australian inhabitant of the Borough; is a good example of the Council's policy. The Snail Drome is exactly one kilometre long with seating for 10,000. However, the likely costs are projected to exceed £10,000,000 ($20,000,000). Ms Imaman said that the cost was immaterial. "Snails have every right to compete in the Games" she said. "For too long they have ben seen as only a garden pest or a gastronomic delicacy. We want to show the World that in Stratford, the snail is as much a valued member of our community as any other inhabitant. Speaking from Beijing, the UK Minister for Sport, Lord Nike, said that he hoped that the Government could overcome the costs involved and that he had spoken with key members of the IOC who were of the opinion that they need to move at something more than a snail pace if the Drome is to be finished on time. Come on Britain. This is no time to retreat into your shells. Get a move on!

I don't know what to say, I wondered why you had no responses and now I know it's because you're a daft old sod with too much time on your hands. Anyway, if there are to be Snailympics then I think we need a Wormerarium as well and fish should be allowed to compete in the swimming. I think Britain is doing well in this Olympic thingamy but I don't really care and, actually all of the "Britons" who have won stuff are English aren't they? Well, I'll be glad when it's all over so me and my pet worms can watch real telly like, er, I dunno actually. Casualty finished anyway didn't it? But Eastenders will be back to normal. Erm, what else, I don't know. Go Snails!

Thank you Vanities. Many people here believe that the Olympics is a waste of money. But we've got it so it had better be good.

Well if the tortoise could win the race with the hare, I guess the snails can get a move on and be ready in time for Olympics! Slime on!

Hi P1kef1sh, As long as the Media and Culural section will allow the Red Arrows to do a display as part of the opening as no doubt they will want the RAF to protect air space around it I really don't care about the Olympics being here in 2012, Look at the cost of it all, even in China there are still people without food and shelter from the earthquake and yet all this money being spent and we in the UK will do the same for what to get a few kids interested in competing at a sport when there are no facilities or backing for them to train. I have been watching some of it and I think it is great for the individuals who have achieved especially the guy who won the Tongo their very first ever medal but thats about it a far as I'm concerned. Meanwhile yes get a move on and finish it on time or we will be a total embarrassment in front of the whole world in 2012. Ellie :D

I am sure that the Red Arrows will be there Ellie. We'll all be a "quiver" (groan). LOL. We'll all end up looking daft I expect. The Government's in charge. What hope do we have?!!
